The wonderful singer Alison Moyet has dipped a toe in controversial waters regarding all the different sexualities and identities being bandied around.

This was her tweet earlier today:

New speak really can be a right old dose of bollocks. Graysexual? Demisexual? Jesus. Some people badly need to get a paper round or a sudoku habit.

Good for her to reject this craziness. Lots of people on Twitter/X are agreeing with her, but others are not very happy. Hope she stands her ground!

Alison has been speaking up for ages.

I wasn’t aware - I thought there were very few well-known voices speaking up against this Stonewall nonsense.

I love her response to a long term, but now sad fan "out of politeness, I've re-read what I wrote...but you know what, I still feel the same" lol.

Oh I am so pleased she has re-entered the fray. She talked about this many years ago and then decided to bow out gracefully. A brilliant woman and singer!

At this stage, I'm grateful for the notable women like AM who expose themselves to this, even on an episodic basis.

Yep, every now and then the level of sheer fuckwittery appears to get too much for her and she goes off on one.

She’s a legend, but bites her tongue more often than not these days because she can’t be doing with the abuse. She’s also been busy completing a degree in fine art too. Love her.

Thanks JellyCats - I had sort of forgotten about her (as a singer) but so wonderful to see she is still around and obviously in charge of her life.

Alison slways was her own woman, and not afraid to be herself as a singer. This House is an incredible song.
Her no-nonsense stance on twitter is so refreshing and I agree with her. A young non-binary person I know also has a nigh-on incomprehensible sexuality, something to do with not being able to have sex without being in love... How is that so unusual as to need it's own term?!
