Who would have thought it, you can embrace dressing in men's clothes and still just be a woman who enjoys dressing androgenously. I think this is quite refreshingly wholesome. I also think she looks great, and am 50% jealous, 50% have a crush on her.

A moment that changed me: I was mistaken for a man – and embraced my androgyny

My penchant for menswear had been treated as a mildly immoral habit when I was growing up. But one night all the shame melted away

Haven't read the full article, but on the face of it, seems extraordinary to think this is a revolutionary idea for some.

IvyTwines · 14/10/2023 19:41

No, according to this, dressing androgynously means you're a 'they'.

GuessingGamer · 14/10/2023 19:51

I want to know who's still pushing gender stereotypes? I thought we'd got that out of the way years ago. She looks female to me (and much like I did in my twenties) It's all such a load of nonsense!

TeiTetua · 14/10/2023 20:57

I'm not sure. Even if she hasn't fallen down the trans hole, they may intend this as saying "See, anyone can be anything". Including the other sex, in the Guardian's opinion.

I am continually surprised to find people that think that women wearing jeans and t-shirts is somehow unusual. Or having short hair for that matter, women have been cutting their hair through much of the 20th century.

How backwards were these people?

ThreeLeggedParrot · 14/10/2023 21:34

She looks feminine in a Tom boy type way. Clearly female and drawn to jeans, tops

Thingybob · 14/10/2023 21:43

I think she/they has fallen down some hole.

They have recently published their first novel a 'queer rom-com' for teenagers.

MaggieBsBoat · 14/10/2023 22:03

Good grief this is irritating. This is reframing what is totally normal as something groundbreaking.

Congratulations. You cut your hair short. I had a shaved head for years and not once did I think I was being revolutionary or forging a new path for womankind.

I'd love to dress like this. Unfortunately these hips and boobs don't lie and mens clothing will not fit me. Dumpy middle aged woman it is!
