Comment on Twitter from UN Special Rapporteur on Violence Against Women and Girls, Reem Alsalem, who is attending and speaking at the conference:

Arrived in Glasgow to participate in the @FiLiA_charity conference tomorrow. I guess i’ll be witnessing in real time what i have been reading about over the last few year: The concerted attempts to censor #women and prevent them from meeting and discussing issues that are important to women, and… women continuing to resist as they always have!

x.com/unsrvaw/status/1712538020694601962?s=46&t=SPorwN-mokktL467rcZ57g

She is such a hero. While the rest of the UN publishes crap like "trans lesbians are lesbians too" and their heirarchy is now a danger to women, Reem absolutely fights the good fight.

The way I see all this? This is the Left/liberals "pedophilia in the Catholic church" abyss.

I don't mean equivalent crimes. I mean the damage to the cause's credibility. That scandal did more than most to grind the church into downright hate, and even worse, indifference and irrelevance, for most citizens in the West.

I really think the same could happen to so many liberal institutions that have slavishly touted the TRA party line. A real danger.

I already know I don't trust the MSM and have less reverence and respect for medicine and some science. I don't even want to confess publically what I feel about the liberal arts world. And academia not far behind.

The damage on trust is deep, and soon, irreconcilable.

Filia is certainly bringing the stars out. Some amazing women speaking.

Julie Bindel in Unherd

"Followers of Glasgow Trans Rally were encouraged to target the venue, harassing the organisers on social media and over the phone.

This weekend, a transphobic ‘women’s rights’ conference will be held at [venue],” the Instagram postst_ read. “Prominent transphobes such as Joanna Cherry and Julie Bindel will be speaking, amongst many many others. STAND WITH US in telling [the venue] that Glasgow DOES NOT ACCEPT THIS, and that they MUST DROP THE EVENT!”^
Two days before the conference, the venue caved into pressure and informed FiLiA that the event was cancelled.

After putting the venue and the organisers through hell, legal advice was sought, and it was established that to cancel the event would risk a legal challenge. So, as per a statementnt_ put out on Thursday afternoon, FiLiA is going ahead, and the venue has ultimately not caved to the protestors.^

It is interesting that these people seem to doubt that FiLiA is a “women’s rights” conference, instead describing it as simply against trans people. Speakers and delegates are coming from all over the world to share experiences of campaigning to end the global sex trade and the trafficking of children, femicidede_, and the abuse of black women by the police and military. There are women from Europe, the Middle East, Africa, Asia, Latin America and Australian Indigenous communities. ^
But these sadistic narcissists are desperate to shut the mouths of survivors of male violence, and prevent 1500 women from getting together in sisterhood and solidarity. There are women still steeped in trauma at being raped, or from losing custody of their children in the family courts to an abusive father.

As I reporteded_ from a previous FiLiA event, the lovely lot that picketed the event decided to bang on the windows and shout “Nazi scum!” while women inside spoke of being tortured and raped by police. They held signs reading, “Suck my dick you transphobic cunt” in their best attempt to be intersectional feminists. ^

The more these woman-hating trans activists lose, the worse they become. There are lots of women, particularly young ones, involved, but there have always been women happy to be poster girls for the patriarchy, because it earns them cookies in the short term.

Gender ideology is nothing more or less than misogyny. And if the liberals can’t see that a baying mob trying to shut down a feminist event is, whether consciously or not, part of a men’s rights movement, they need to belatedly open their eyes."

I somehow never realise these events are happening until it's too late to go, I clearly need to get on more mailing lists.

Everyone who is up there for the conference please be extra safe. With the ground they're losing on the gender front, and the gleeful celebration of brutal violence in many of the same circles right now, I feel more worried than usual about the potential for things to get nasty. Travel in packs please!

Ereshkigalangcleg · 12/10/2023 21:54

Their protest is apparently starting at 8.30 am tomorrow at all entrances. I can't see the majority of these losers getting up quite that early, but good to be aware.

ArabellaScott · 12/10/2023 21:56

There is no way they'll be up at 8.30!

For some of the more incel aligned, the opportunity to abuse women may get them away from their screens earlier than normal?

lanadelgrey · 12/10/2023 22:02

It will be fine. FiLiA run an excellent security operation, helmed by Lianne from Get the L out. And attendees are not women to be deterred.

RealityFan · 12/10/2023 22:02

Do their mums make them a packed lunch, or do they pop into a Greggs for a sneaky Steak Bake?

334bu · 12/10/2023 22:03

I think there is a Greggs under the bridge..

That's a Red Hot Chillis reference?
Makes a blessed change from Marillion and Kayleigh.

For FiLiA you need to be planning pretty much as the last one ends. Tickets and accommodation go quickly. Keep an eye out for them announcing next years venue over the next few weeks.

LonelyFlans · 12/10/2023 22:28

It's due to rain 8-9am tomorrow, hopefully that'll put some of them off.

EmpressaurusOfCats · 12/10/2023 22:34

The TRA protest at Portsmouth involved dick drawings & obscene phrases chalked outside the venue, in a busy public square where children could see them. Not to mention loud shouts of abusive language that could be heard clearly inside, where women were speaking about their experience of sexual abuse.

Lovely.

IcakethereforeIam · 12/10/2023 22:35

I think it'll be quite chilly too. Hope they wrap up 😁

PonyPatter44 · 12/10/2023 22:36

It's so fucking childish, isn't it? Filia is nothing to do with trans issues and STILL they whine and threaten us. I have lost any tiny residual respect I had for these utter morons.

EmpressaurusOfCats · 12/10/2023 22:44

FiLiA would only be acceptable if it was led by and focused on TWs.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 12/10/2023 22:46

Where is the next FiLiA going to be, incidentally?

YY. I was thinking about this earlier. If they did get their way, what a mess it would be. They would punish the women involved in every way they could think of for holding out. They would run it into the ground rather than keep it alive for women.

I do hope that they remember to put their trousers on before they leave the house. The weather is forecast to be quite inclement.

SapphosRock · 12/10/2023 22:50

The TRAs really are narcissists are they? These posts read like satire.

Funny how they haven't been able to give any examples.

I can see why people think it's that Cabaret Against the Hate Speech guy. Oh well I guess we will know when and if he bursts into song.

I am sorry but no clever musical reference, just an actual bridge, known locally as the Helanman's Umbrella.
