Question about Attitudes Woman of the Year Award

This year won by Dylan Mulvaney to much fanfare. I was trying to find out who won their Woman of the Year Award in previous years but on a cursory look can’t find that category in previous years. ‘Icon’ yes - ‘Honorary Gay’ yes but no ‘Woman’. Have they created this specifically for a Transwoman? I understand that the magazine advertises itself as a ‘Gay men’s lifestyle magazine’.

Virgin Atlantic sponsored the awards.

According to their Facebook he's the first to win the award.

That's superb, they created a woman's award specifically for a man.

Tbf men get most things first - a vote, bank account, competitive sports etc. Attitude are just upholding a very gender conforming tradition there.

Perhaps I should enter my cat for Crufts.

Can't really get upset at some gay magazine awards, that awards a sports presenter for helping to lose half of the programme's audience, or a sportsman win for playing 9 minutes of professional football, or a comedian that does gigs in Qatar yet criticises others for working in Qatar.

Creating a new award for Woman of the Year for men to win sums up their awards quite well.

I think they frequently do this just to cause controversy. It increases social media engagement, keeps their name out there etc. Looking at all the other winners there are very few comments or likes so in reality these awards would likely go unnoticed by the general public. Personally I think Mulvaney’s time in the spotlight is waning. Mulvaney has little left to make Mulvaney a figure of interest.
