I've not watched the whole thing, but just landed on:

'we know that, that, in the fetus, everyone's a girl in the fetus'

Oh dear.

Odd, I'd always assumed he was reasonably intelligent.

"Everyone's a girl in the fetus". That doesn't even make sense. Does he mean "in the womb"? He'd still be wrong, of course, but he'd be wrong in a way that made sense.

As we all know Eddie is a he not a she .

I'm so disappointed in him.
Growing up his "they're not girl's clothes, they're my clothes" approach to personal choice was formative to me.

Some will remember the Eddie recently tried to get selected as labour candidate for one of the Sheffield parliamentary seats.

I was chatting to a couple of local activists recently (I'm not in the Labour party myself) and Eddie's name came up, but whilst they were v diplomatic, it was clear that neither had a v good opinion of Eddie. Being and talking absolute crap at the hustings was one comment.

Unfortunately if you do a google search you'll find plenty of people in the broader science community claiming that all fetuses start as female. It's incomplete knowledge based on incorrect assumptions.

I could kind of forgive Eddie if Eddie was taking about reptiles or invertebrates as there’s some more interesting stuff out there. But we’re mammals. And I used to teach about XX and XY in Key Stage 3.

I imagine witnessing Eddie at a hustings would be like watching a drunk Kenneth Branagh rehearsing for the part of Nero in a terribly avant garde production, constantly forgetting his lines.

My sister really liked Eddie in those formative years. The feisty gender non conforming, the totally deserved and hilarious puncturing of BS, the flights of fancy.

Now? She couldn't get further away from him if she was shot out of a cannon at the speed of light.

He's gone from anti establishment to scolder of women, as boringly establishment as you can get in 2023. And from a weaver of hilarious tall tales to now being front and centre in this most unhilarious tallest of tall tales.

"Everyone's a girl in the fetus" JFC. The stupidity and the arrogance. I wonder how Izzard thinks that sex selection of embryos for genetically inherited diseases that are sex specific is done, if all the embryos are "girls"....

Scientific innacuracy aside, there's lots of properties foetuses have and don't have.

They initially don't have any sight. Does that mean Eddie will be identifying as blind next?

I have only watched a bit, but found it impossible to follow. Eddie's speech was so disjointed, random and rambling it was very hard to follow.

oh I see the problem. he doesn't have a gcse level of understanding of biology and is too arrogant to listen to those who do.

Perhaps he is confused that humans are deuterostomes. He is an exceptional example this.

Something like that, probably - except for the fact that every cell of the the male foetus has a Y chromosome to kick in. Or if you want to be pedantic, a working SRY gene.

To be fair, I think that's how his mind has always worked. His comedy was always rambling and surreal and unexpected - part of the charm.

It's just not charming, or funny, anymore.

I could forgive them if they hadn’t decided to conform to the transmafia script. Bloke in a dress I could absolutely get onboard with. The rest of it is just the usual misogyny and barging into women’s safe spaces.
