Will the projection never stop with these people? It's constant.

Alison Phipps , author of 'Me, Not You':

'Another academic who says her career has been affected by her support for trans rights is Newcastle University sociology professor Alison Phipps, who was head of gender studies at Sussex University when Stock was teaching there. Phipps has been a vocal trans ally for the past decade, which she says has meant “some academics working on violence against women give me a wide berth, as do some third sector organisations”.
According to Phipps, ‘gender critical’ women in her field “tend to set the mainstream agenda, with very few people willing to risk their own careers by challenging them openly”'

So, in short, they are not happy that their libellous claims are being called out.
And they don’t like to be held account for their wildly inaccurate statements.

[nods wisely like a sage]

Well, if that’s cancellation then bring it on!

Grace Lavery, author of 'Please, Miss, A heartbreaking work of staggering penis':

'Grace Lavery, a professor of English at the University of California, Berkeley, gave a talk in 2022 at University College London (UCL) about what [she] called “the mortal threat to academic freedom in the United Kingdom that has been mounted in recent years… by an alliance composed of the gender critical movement and the managerial class of administrators that govern the UK [higher education] sector.”'

Jaysus, Ms Phipps does not compute why people working with violence on women don’t want to talk to her?
She’s not very - perceptive, is she?

RudsyFarmer · 01/10/2023 19:04

The victim narrative. DARVO?

ArabellaScott · 01/10/2023 19:05

'Oseroff-Spicer [who had accused Stock of “publicly advocating bigotry and intolerance”had been an editor for the APA blog as a side-job during his studies. “I was then told [by my boss] I couldn’t speak out in support of trans people or criticise her publicly,” he said, adding his boss also instructed him to apologise publicly to Stock.'

Do you think lavery has been struggling to get things through peer review because gaping holes in arguments are being picked up by reviewers?

Thats not a conspiracy or cancellation. That’s what peer review is for.

Californiabound · 01/10/2023 19:06

The word diddums comes to mind. Deluded idiots.

ArabellaScott · 01/10/2023 19:07

'some academics working on violence against women give me a wide berth'

That's not really 'cancellation', is it, that's just people avoiding you.

Ooh boo hoo

ArabellaScott · 01/10/2023 19:09

'Lavery understood editors feared they could face legal action for running the piece'

Academic trips over the existence of 'defamation', shocker.

My considered professorial response:

Diddums.

RedToothBrush · 01/10/2023 19:10

"I'm spouting illiterate non scientific and socially backward and tone deaf bollocks and wonder why the serious grown ups give me a wide birth."

Yep ok.

'Christa Peterson ... these people keep saying my academic work is bullying and harassment,” she said'

Has anyone told her that tweeting is not her ‘academic work’?

ArabellaScott · 01/10/2023 19:13

Article ends on a positive note, however:

'For Lavery, the issue is fundamentally one of academic freedom. “It’s pretty difficult to actually publish work that engages the gender critical movement on any level whatsoever,” she said. “They have almost a monopoly within academic philosophy'

This is the bit where my guess is that what’s really happening is that she’s encountering issues in peer review. Pesky reviewers are probably asking for coherent arguments grounded in accurate assessments of the evidence and other inconvenient things.

So Lavery has decided to spin that to ‘awful GC academics are cancelling me’.

And I always thought it was the other way around. That GC were cancelled.

DARVO is core mantra gender ideologists rely on in order to carry on doing what they do. I mean, you do see it all the time bit it's always a surprise whenever you see it!

Froodwithatowel · 01/10/2023 19:28

Ah. So a desire to absolutely be entitled to control and punish others into using only language and mentioning matters they approve of, but highly distressed to have their own expression presented with boundaries.

Reciprocation. And equality, rather than a hierarchy of people with different entitlements. It's an ongoing issue isn't it?

Oh, ok then, we'll definitely listen to you on that subject then won't we!

AutumnCrow · 01/10/2023 19:31

I think is about (a) legal cases, and (b) peer review.
