My country is holding an election this year. I was on a 'political compass' website where I can answer questions about how I feel about the big issues, and it shows me how my opinions align with the main parties.

I get to my final results page and it allows me to look in detail at the 12 main voter issues they have identified:

Education
Employment
Environment
Freedom of Speech
Government benefits
Housing
Immigration
Law and Order
Indigenous Rights
Public transport
Taxation
Transgender Rights

Transgender Rights? As one of the 12 MAIN issues concerning the average voter? Alongside Employment, Housing, and Taxation? Really?

I guess it depends whether they mean transgender rights, or actually mean womens rights to single sex spaces etc.

True. It's framed as transwomen being allowed to play in women's sports. but if you frame it as a women's rights issue it belongs on the list.

And one of the problems with conflating women's rights and trans rights like that is that when hardly anyone chooses trans rights, they'll announce that But you won't know what they really mean - was it women's or trans rights that came so low down the scale? Then they'll be able to say that it doesn't rank, so most people aren't much concerned about it.

The joys of mangling language!

Why the suprise if you live in a country which is changing one of the basic classification for its citizen /people?

Which class a human fits into matter in law so in everyday life too

Education- teaching children to comply ,lie and not think, sports, single sex spaces, biology v ideology
Employment - obligation if employers to recognise sex of employee and make appropiate provision
Environment -
Freedom of Speech- forced to lie eg in court is perjury but UK still oked it
Government benefits - new groups which demand funding
Housing - single sex spaces, ranking for piblic funded housing
Immigration - documentation and traceable criminal history
Law and Order - ideology capture, strip searching, mixed sex prisons
Indigenous Rights - sex based gaps
Public transport
Taxation - a material sum gets spent on vanity projects eg Scotland was payimng womens groups to campaign against womens rights.
Transgender Rights - were you allowed to free text boxes or did the website pick the topics?

If people are raising issues it may not be in a positive way

It's a major issue for me that women's rights and dignity are being eroded in real time. It permits retrogressive moves wrt employment, education, travel, expectations around being a default carer etc.

As PPs indicate, it all depends on whether transgender rights is being used as a proxy for the diminution of women's rights and erasure of us as a sex class.

I sometimes get invited to surveys about Scottish politics and they often ask to rank topics in order of importance. I never know how to answer this properly because the issue is important to me because the SNP/Green coalition is trying to change the GRA and because of everything that is going on in Scotland because of this. I don't think that it should be one of the most important issues in Scottish politics though. I'd quite happily focus on something else. I don't think it should be the most important issue for the SG but because they have made this the most important one (besides independence) I now have to say it is important. I'm also sure that when I say it is an important issue SNP/SGreens/SLibDems will ignore why it is important to me.
