Queering lighthouses with the National Trust!

I thought this was a parody but no. It's an event at the South Foreland Lighthouse in Dover.

It's called To the Lighthouse. Which is a book by Virginia Woolf - a woman who was famously bisexual.

Who is performing? A load of lesbians and bisexual women presumably?

You'd be wrong there. No, of course, all the performers are men. There's a drag queen, performance by another man, music from w different man and then poetry from - you guessed it - another man!

It is absolutely extraordinary that no one within the NT has challenged the fact that they have created an event which steals a woman's sexuality and her words and uses them to promote men.

That makes me so bloody angry that I don’t even have words!

How do you know Virginia Woolf was a woman? Maybe she was a man. And maybe some of these performers are women

But most importantly she wasn't a woman, she was a person. And these performers are all people, so it's all fine

Virginia Woolf was a very successful writer, which makes it far more likely she was a transwoman, original name Virgil, perhaps. Girly pink brains aren't really up to the demands of writing, which is an intellectual activity. James Austen, there's another one. George Eliot, need I say more?

The event is next weekend which is why I’m posting about it. The Facebook post I’ve screenshotted makes that clear. No idea what event you’re talking about.

Maybe this bunch of men have been wandering around the country all summer and performing at any hapless lighthouse they come upon? This might account for Permanent Temporary's comment about it having been in June.

I've never heard of the South....erm Foreskin (was it?) Lighthouse (autocorrupt wanted to go with Lighthorne 😁).
