Spain’s trans law: sex offender seeks pardon after gender change

A convicted sex offender has taken advantage of Spain’s recently passed gender self-determination law to register himself as a woman in an attempt to avoid a prison sentence, according to the two women he abused.
The former security guard, identified as Antonio BR, has been convicted of abusing both women. The women, with whom he was in simultaneous relationships, told the ABC newspaper how he subjected them to months of physical and emotional abuse before they decided to press charges.
He was given two prison sentences of eight months and forty months, but after receiving the second sentence he changed his identity in the civil registry to become a woman named Milan and subsequently filed a pardon application, arguing that he is now a completely different person.
