Canada Win - Conservative conference votes that women exist and to ban "transationing" of kids

87% of Conservative Party of Canada delegates vote in favour of Coach Linda Blade's resolution supporting single sex spaces and defining the word "woman" as "(a) female person."

The resolution, C-15, added to the party’s policy declaration the assertion that “women are entitled to the safety, dignity, and privacy of single-sex spaces (e.g., prisons, shelters, locker rooms, washrooms) and the benefits of women-only categories (e.g., sports, awards, grants, scholarships).”
The resolution also enshrines in party policy the definition of a women as “(a) female person.”

69% of Conservative Party of Canada delegates adopt a motion opposing the medical gender transitioning of children.

This is a MAJOR shift in the party from a non-committal even anti-woman stance. This doesn't mean the next Conservative manifesto will contain these policies for sure though they are now locked in as officially in the policy platforms of the party, but it is highly likely that pro-women legislation will appear in some form due to the amount of grass roots and elected official support. Especially as Conservatives in power in the provinces are already passing popular pro-women/children legalisation.

Linda Blade deserves huge kudos for this. A massive achievement in practical politics she has locked the party elite into being more pro-woman than they might have wanted and reshaped the party. Brilliant tactics. Blade is the former president of Athletics Alberta and author of the book Unsporting: How Trans Activism and Science Denial are Destroying Sport. She is also a Canadian track champion and a professional elite coach.

The next Canadian election is sometime before the end of 2025. The Conservatives have been generally ahead in the polls for about a year so look likely to win. It seems highly likely that gender will be a key battleground in the election. Going to get really nasty as the anti-women activists in Canada are amongst the most powerful and vicious in the world.

This is good, I think.

There seems to be some movement on all this by Conservative parties at the provincial levels as well. People are certainly becoming more aware.

I'm somewhat concerned at the nature of the pushback. Even more than in the UK, progressives seem completely unaware of the issues with this. Most have no clue about things like men in women's prisons, believe that gender health care for kids is totally well established scientifically, that gender dysphoria is caused by brain differences. Other than the National Post, mainstream media aren't printing anything else.

The CBC in particular is really pushing the "denying healthcare to trans kids" angle, and they have so much trust from many progressives. I see more people now who have opened their eyes, but it's still hugely one-sided.

It's almost as it was in the UK five or even 7 years ago.

It does seem almost certain the federal Conservatives will win the next election. I don't much like Poilievere, and I think he is the wrong guy to tackle this, he loves to make everything more partisan which is absolutely the wrong approach on this. So I worry how it will play out. I'd have been much happier to see Charest or Lewis win the leadership.

A cautious 'wow'.

MrsOvertonsWindow · 10/09/2023 13:28

It's small steps isn't it? The land grabs by men for women's sport just can't be hidden. The experimental nature of health care that is unevidenced and sterilises children is being shared internationally. Plus the embarrassing numbers of male sex offenders who claim to be women - all contributing to the erosion of #nodebate and a steady realisation of what is happening to societies without democratic consent. Even in Canada eyes are being opened.

Cosmosforbreakfast · 10/09/2023 14:26

It's a small step in the right direction. The less these attacks against women and their rights are tolerated and enabled the quicker these misogynists will lose interest in the trans lifestyle.

Froodwithatowel · 10/09/2023 14:29

After what the Canadians have suffered through this political nutjobbery the votes must be there for the asking.

Before we get the moaning start about 'but why would you want rights if they are given to you by evil NOT LABOUR PEOPLE (who mostly merely identify as Labour and would not know leftist socialist policies if they bit them in the arse but OMG you want Nazis in power) you probably should have considered the more the pendulum is rammed one way, the harder it will swing back. And you cannot expect people to be up for one set of nutjobs but get all pouty about another set of nutjobs.

Linda Blade@coachblade on the vote
What was amazing for me @fem_mb was what I encountered on the floor. As I made my way to the spotlight/mic area to present my policy…
Huge group of delegates crowding the mic bickering over who gets to speak for the women’s resolution. So many wanted to speak!
Young women clutching scraps of paper with personal stories. Men of all ages desperate to speak on behalf of their mothers, sisters, daughters. The scene was surreal. Honestly. As I struggled through the crowd, trying to step up to the mic to present my proposition to the assembly, someone tried to stop me thinking I was butting into the line. I said: “Well, actually, I am the one from #Alberta presenting the policy.” They immediately apologized, but it is illustrative of the tension at the mic. [In the best way possible - with the best of intentions on all parts.]
After the chart flashed onto the big screen showing that the resolution passed with 87% support, the roar in the room was thunderous!! Loudest cheer of the entire plenary. Imagine all these people cheering for Canadian WOMEN & GIRLS!! (See image of the plenary session).

I have never been more proud of #Canada

Thank you @CPC_HQ for having this grassroots process.
Thank you #QuebecCity for hosting the #CPC2023 convention.

What a pivotal event. Truly.
To the party leadership beginning with @PierrePoilievre , all of us women urge you to bear in mind the eagerness with which your delegates wanted to support Policy 999. Please do not disregard its importance. Please NEVER APOLOGIZE or back down.
#Canada needs a common sense alternative.
Trust your members.

I hope Starmer is watching!

Thank you to the remarkable Coach Blade for helping get this issue to the convention floor! It was so exciting to watch on the livestream. The federal Conservative Party leadership has been silent on this issue, so this small step is a big deal. Even the CBC news article was fairly factual for once.

This is why this is so important. Report of a Canadian girl being hospitalised by male playing girl's rugby.

My 15 year old niece plays for a girl's rugby team.
She's a pretty good player & has only had a few scrapes & bruises until yesterday...
She was tackled by a trans 'girl' on the other team & is now in hospital with a broken arm, knee cap, & a severe concussion.
I am livid!!

If Liberals and the left are willing to endorse sexual assault on women prisoners and women in refuges, First Nation children being sterilised en masse and girls playing sport being put in hospital then lots of people will turn to anyone which says women and children exist and need safeguarding.

Remember only a faction of the horrors going on in Canada are getting reported because the establishment is so captured.

Again evidence: this ideology would prefer to hospitalise a young girl with severe injuries than shake the illusions of a boy by limits to his absolute freedom of self expression.

Girls; physical harm - and what will this do to this young athlete's career and future in this sport? A broken kneecap is never going to again be fully what it was.

boys: emotional pique at having limits that protect others, but remind them of their reality.

And the boys' feelings are seen as so much more important.

This ideology is so more misogynistic than almost anything else, that women and girls can suffer attacks, rapes, loss of livelihood, reputation, health, sport and their very humanity, rather than than let a breeze fall on the brow of a man.

A glimmer of hope from Canada

RedToothBrush · 12/09/2023 17:16

The next election is going to get properly interesting in Canada.

I think the massive backlash will start here. And we will see violence towards women as a direct result.

Rudderneck · 13/09/2023 02:01

Trudeau's polling is massively bad at the moment. And difficult to see it going up much unless there is some major change in the economy, or PP is revealed as some kind of KKK member or something.
