This has just popped up on my LinkedIn.

Women in Sport have published their Mixed Sex Sport policy for children and young people and it’s bloody brilliant! It’s biology (and common sense) driven whilst being compassionate and understanding.

This is what they say about gender identity in relation to sport in Secondary schools:

  1. Discussions around gender identity may become louder at this age, and of course gender questioning and gender diverse young people must be included in sport, but the physical differences between the sexes really matter. Female only provision needs to cater for natal females where safety and fairness will otherwise be compromised. Mixed-sex sport should not be used as a way to avoid difficult conversations about gender because if this happens, natal girls and women lose out. Instead, beyond the female-only provision there should be opportunities open to all to ensure no-one is excluded.

Some of the comments on their LinkedIn post are annoying me a bit. Nothing outright critical but comments like “our sport is open to all genders” 🙄
