Are these pronouns real?

Applying for a new job and this literally was the second question after asking my name...I can't figure out if they're being real - they even have a box to enter your own "custom pronoun" what can I write in there and be unique?

Are these pronouns real?
OP posts:
Clymene · 07/09/2023 20:05

Fe/Fi/Fo/Fum

TheCurtainQueen · 07/09/2023 20:07

Itsy/bitsy/teeny/weeny

Jackiebrambles · 07/09/2023 20:09

Hu hu??

No/thank/you

do/fuck/off

Jackiebrambles · 07/09/2023 20:11

This is the problem though, right? If you don’t play along you’ve no chance of the job!

ReeseWitherfork · 07/09/2023 20:12

I fucking hope not. I can just about cope with they/them but the rest… no chance.

HarrietJet · 07/09/2023 20:14

Fucking hu hu 🤦‍♀️ What is wrong with these people?

If some gobshite decides on faery pronouns do the entire company have to learn them, and use them in the gobshite's absence (which is the only way pronounce are used)??
I'd be withdrawing my application sharpish.

WhiteFire · 07/09/2023 20:15

How do you pronounce Hu?

Just H (phonetic way) with a silent U? Hugh? More like Who?

Or is just said in a completely random way and is actually 'Achoo' (like a sneeze)

CorruptedCauldron · 07/09/2023 20:16

In the custom box I’d write N/A.

Apparently it comes from the word human.
Don't know how pronounced.
/h/ /you/ maybe - like the start of human? 🤷‍♀️

In the custom box I’d write N/A.

This is the sensible option!

(but I would be tempted to go with Hee/Haw because I LOVE donkeys)

DisappearingGirl · 07/09/2023 20:21

Surely "hu" (pronounced Hugh) would be too close in sound to "you"?

"Hu asked when we were meeting"
("Who's Hugh?'")

"You asked when we were meeting"
("No I didn't!")

Iamsorryyes · 07/09/2023 20:21

You could write dog. Come in full costume and spend the first day acting as a dog. Then sue for constructive dismissal when you're not allowed to be a dog even though it's your SI. It won't get to court but if you're employer is anything like the government dept this is happening in you'll make some money as the civil service is desperate not to let the light in.

Houseplantmad · 07/09/2023 20:24

Are they he her in other languages? If not, what bullshit is this.

CyberCritical · 07/09/2023 20:27

Shouldn't they have a 'prefer not to say' box because otherwise they're forcing people to out themselves or lie if they're not ready to announce their gender identity?

I really hate all this shit, it feels so performative and ridiculous.

Purplerain0505 · 07/09/2023 20:27

I love a few of these suggestions but yeah, it won’t go down well. I think N/A would be fine and gets the point across without causing an issue. If you get the job you might need to be ready to battle over other things, such as adding pronouns to your email.

I came across a lady in a cafe the other day with she/they on her badge and I thought surely she’s quite confused?

BloodyHellKen · 07/09/2023 20:28

This would be fantastic way to weed out the pronoun loons at application stage 😁

CyberCritical · 07/09/2023 20:29

To answer the question though, yes they are 'real' as in they are used rather than the actual use of the word real. They are neo-pronouns

SpamPie · 07/09/2023 20:29

Hu/Hu/Hugh isn't very far off taking the piss out of poor Hugh's stutter.

Fallenangelofthenorth · 07/09/2023 20:31

You can't work there, it will be far too confusing once people start adopting these various different made up pronouns!

I'm looking for a new job too and have already discounted quite a few roles for being affiliated with Stonewall. I just want to go to work, to work, without all these distractions.

Oh, that's disappointing. I thought it might be for owl gender and be a resonant hoot.

Or for people who are big fans of

Turtlegurl888 · 07/09/2023 20:40

I can cope with they/them. At least those are actual words. If you said any of the others in actual day to day life people would have no fucking clue what you were on about...also I'm not understanding how hu/hu etc works. E.g. She = hu but her also = hu? How does that work in English???

InvisibleDuck · 07/09/2023 20:42

I am fed up of the silly redundancy of listing both subject and object pronoun.

It would make me want to write in she/him and get very offended if anyone gets it wrong. That or 'her Majesty'.

Kendodd · 07/09/2023 20:48

Please, please, please OP, out the company.
These are hilarious.
And if you have to choose one - she/him.

Gormless · 07/09/2023 20:52

Ho/hum
