Sadiq Khan’s City Hall gives £100k to controversial charity mentoring kids on changing gender

Sadiq Khan’s City Hall gave nearly £100,000 taxpayers’ cash to a charity that mentors kids on changing gender.

Gendered Intelligence has been slammed for running workshops for children as young as seven.

The Labour London mayor gave them a £94,847 grant this summer.

It is to mentor people aged 11 to 24 on “gender and identity”.

The charity runs an online session to “explore medical and social transition”.

It also holds different swim sessions, where you can: "Wear whatever you like as long as your bottom half is covered."

Its website has tips on breast-binding and advice on accessing hormones and surgery.

It tells young people they can change their name, pronouns and title “at any time”.

A spokesperson for the Mayor said: “Sadiq is a Mayor for all Londoners and continues to do all he can to build a better London for everyone – from providing free school meals to all state primary school children, to supporting some of the most vulnerable people in the capital.”

Of course he does. Brain dead virtue signaller.

tedgran · 03/09/2023 15:09

Think he's got two daughters, is he going to take them?

IwantToRetire · 03/09/2023 15:11

Unfortunately it is more than signalling.

It is enabling by giving them money.

And in terms of "supporting some of the most vulnerable people in the capital" are they really some of the most vulnerable.

I am sure there are really vulnerable people in London who could have benefited from a grant.

I wonder if he funds any women's "safe spaces" services in London?

Gendered Intelligence are one of the groups that exerted an inappropriate influence on child healthcare at GIDs. Hannah Barnes' book "Time To Think" details some of their actions. The Cass Review has worked hard to remove adult activists from being able to influence child healthcare by placing the new centres in children's hospitals where evidence and research are the basis for medicine - not the wishes of self interested adults using children to promote an ideology.
That Khan funds trans adults to "mentor" confused children, most with significant mental health issues and often tragic personal circumstances is shocking. These children don't need "mentoring" from these random over invested people. They need qualified mental health support.
Disgraceful.

RealityFan · 03/09/2023 15:18

He outsources such decisions to his woke underlings and office juniors. Just signs our money away.

Flickersy · 03/09/2023 16:31

Khan doesn't have much involvement in these grants (I'd bet he has zero involvement tbh). "He" is funding squat.

The Greater London Authority gives out a number of grants each year to various causes. Not sure if they publish a full list.

I hate that we can’t get rid of him. He’s never had any vision for London, he stands for nothing. Just a stupid, punitive little man.

Eh? We can get rid of him the same way as with MPs - an election every 4 years. The next London mayoral election is next year I think.

Mate, just because you say it doesn't mean any of us believe it.

You need candidates with vision and charisma to get past the Labour London bias.

Ken Livingston was an obvious choice since his GLC role and his passion for all things London, then Boris Johnson - Have I Got News For You celeb, possibly more charisma and personality than KL and a vision about cycling, and then Khan - no vision, no charisma, just Labour.

I think that’s it now. We can’t get rid of him until Labour chooses to put someone else forward.

Oblomov23 · 03/09/2023 19:35

I'm not surprised by this. Khan he's such a dick.

NitroNine · 03/09/2023 19:35

@IwantToRetire
One of the recent specific grants made available for groups working with women & girls was the VAWG Cost of Living Fund. The current MOPAC & VRU bidding opportunities include community-based mentoring for girls & young women; & lots of the grants for the Community-Led Recovery Programme went to women’s organisations.

It’s possible to see most of the grants awarded since 2013 here.

Absolutely Gendered Intelligence shouldn’t be getting a penny; & bleating about “the most vulnerable” when there are children in London who are suffering dreadfully… ugh. But grants go all over the place & their allocation isn’t anything to do with Khan.

Dear Sadiq I have only this to say to you...."Maaate"

Did it work? Did the misogyny end?

dimorphism · 03/09/2023 19:44

Or does it have to be a MAN saying it? Before the promotion of a violently misogynistic ideology that promotes sterilisation of and harm to children is no longer publicly funded?

So long as they were trans inclusive?

I think you have got it there.

Most hate for Khan seems to be by non - Londoners from the shires. I'd say apart from Ulez and free school meals for all kids it's hard to think of anything he has done. Having said that Boris did quite a lot but it wasn't all laudable by any means.

IsadoraQuagmire · 03/09/2023 19:58

Loathsome little man.

IwantToRetire · 03/09/2023 20:07

Not sure you will find many Londoners who like him, and quite a few hate him, and some of them Labour.

But as with many London boroughs who get Labour councils it is because of people who vote Labour who ever stands - look at the obscene behaviour in Hackney.

What would be interesting is if Jeremy Corbyn stands for Mayor. I suspect he would win. But although him was expelled from the Labour party, I suspect his old fashioned party loyalty would mean he wouldn't want to show them up.

I think most Londoners think it is just another levy they have to pay, for very little benefit.

The ‘Boris Bikes’ were actually a scheme rolled out from Livingstone’s time. Johnson oversaw the ‘little Holland’ schemes - more bike lanes, the redesigned routemaster buses and getting rid of Ken’s bendy buses.

Khan has done f-all. And I have absolutely despised him since he wanted to punish Londoners for using public transport during lockdown by suggesting all the escalators were turned off. It said it all. He wants to control people and punish them. Nasty little control freak.

Both sides of my family have been Londoners for many generations and we all detest him. I've never heard a good word about him from anyone else either.

So, children from age 11 of both sexes and adults all topless in a pool?

Sounds legit.
