Happy Valley Series 6.

Sargent Cawood is brought back from retirement to head up a Special Unit in order to gather evidence for a case in which the Police are Prosecuting themselves on a charge of ‘Wasting Police Time’

She’d go through them like a dose of salts.

Happy Valley Series 6

Unbeknownst to everyone, Tommy Lee Royce has an identical twin brother: Billy Joe Arkwright. Billy Joe (BJ) was adopted at birth by a couple of goat breeders from over the border in Oswaldtwistle. BJ has had a secluded upbringing with social media as his only outside connection away from his odd parents. His SM activity has drawn him into the world of transactivism. He works as a jobbing cheese mechanic across the north of England.

BJ was repairing broken Wensleydale cheeses not far from Hebden Bridge when he heard on the radio about the sticker photographer of Hebden Bridge. He felt an uncontrollable rage towards the woman, tracked her down and garrotted her with a cheese wire. The euphoria that he felt was immediate but he knew that he would have to kill again and again until every TERF in Yorkshire had met their just desserts.

Meanwhile, Yorkshire Plod (YP) are on the case. They race around the countryside, sit in offices eating pastries and drinking tea and read Pink News from cover to cover but cannot find a single lead.

Finally, after he has killed 9 women, BJ decides to help YP out. He sends them an email from his personal account admitting everything and providing incontrovertible proof that he was the murderer. YP surge into action and have a meeting with the CPS. The conflict is obvious: on one hand BJ has killed 9 women but on the other hand they were TERF bigots.

The series ends on a happy note. The CPS decides that BJ has been provoked by TERFS demands that women's single sex spaces should not include self-indentifying TWs which is clearly not WORIADS and will not face any charges. The only victim to survive BJ's assault was tried and convicted of 97 transphobic hate crimes and sentenced to 9 years in prison.

Happy days in Happy Valley.

The thought police. Jesus fucking christ.

The police are out of control. Their harassment of women at the behest of MRAs is of a part with their institutional misogyny. They are pleased to be able to openly vent their misogyny through this channel. They have to be challenged in court.

If they interviewed her under threat of arrest, the interview itself may constitute wrongful arrest. And the visit and interview breached her human rights.

Also, a FoI request re a) the proportion of NCHIs related to gender 'reassignment' recorded women and b) the prosecution rate arising out of doorstepping women for disagreeing with gender ideology, could expose the sex discrimination embedded in this police force.

Imnobody4 · 02/10/2023 10:47

Update. The police response still seems a bit confused to me but at least they backed down.

You may recall the story of 'Eve', a woman from Hebden Bridge who received a visit from TWO police officers when she photographed a sticker. Eve has been in touch to tell us that @WestYorksPolice has conceded a lack of understanding of the nine Protected Characteristics and 1/2

this will be raised as an 'oversight issue'. It has been a long and painful process for Eve but @WRNCalderBradf is grateful to her for keeping us informed. It hopefully means other women will not receive similar visits from the police in the future.

Strange how if your house got broken into they won't even attend. They just issue you a crime ref.

They've got lots of non crime to tackle.

CoughingMajoress · 02/10/2023 14:56

Here's what I don't understand about the police stupidity. If she'd turned around and said "actually I identify as non-binary and I took a photo because I was so triggered by it that I needed a photo in order to share my outrage on Twitter", what would they have said then? That's what I'd do if challenged in a situation like that.

I mean, the fact they're assuming taking a photo indicates support is quite dodgy mindset, isn't it? I take photos of stuff all the time because I want evidence for a complaint (I mean things like fly tipping or broken water mains). They just made an assumption about what she thought of the sticker based on the fact she was an older woman.

They would have demanded you prove that, by handing over your SM logins, so they can check they aren't being taken for fools.

Ohthatsabitshit · 02/10/2023 15:06

The police should be ashamed of themselves.

Yep bloody hell

plipplops · 02/10/2023 15:10

Anyone know where I can buy those stickers?

plipplops · 02/10/2023 15:10

Not sure anyone should answer. Could be a very serious offence to aid and abet a non crime.

e2a: maybe a mass movement to submit FOI requests to the police for a list of legal things we are allowed to do.

I think the 'taken for fools' boat had sailed by the time they decided to make a ridiculous waste of police (and tax funded) time to intimidate take the photo taker to book.

Portakalkedi · 02/10/2023 15:34

Amazing how the police now decide what is a priority and warrants sending officers out - meanwhile shoplifters are running riot all over the country, and the other day a woman who sat (for 3 days) outside the home of a thieving scumbag who'd stolen her son's bike - she had CCTV pics of the well known bike thief but was turned away by the police, but as soon as she sat outside the thief's house with a sign asking for the bike back, the police turned up to accuse HER of harrassment. WTAF?

popebishop · 02/10/2023 16:48

Eve has been in touch to tell us that @WestYorksPolice has conceded a lack of understanding of the nine Protected Characteristics

Hey come on, nine is a big number! They can't be expected to remember a whole nine!

FroodwithaKaren · 02/10/2023 16:59

They harassed a woman photographing a sticker due to an 'oversight'.

Er... how does that work exactly? How is approaching a blameless person and using police status to harass them for personal political hobbyhorses an 'oversight'? The word kind of implies 'missing things' and 'not noticing', this was if anything insanely overzealous noticing. Do words actually mean anything to this organisation? Can someone nip out and do a quick language comprehension check?

And whose desk did they lose the other 8 characteristics down the back of?

FictionalCharacter · 02/10/2023 17:09

RoyalCorgi · 03/09/2023 18:07

The key question here is: who watches the watchkeepers? Who polices the police? If the government, in the form of Suella Braverman, can't stop them, who can?

Taking a photograph of a sticker is not a crime. So why are the police allowed to behave as if it is? Who is going to stop them?

Absolutely anything that might displease the special ones can be called a non-crime hate incident, whether or not there was any hate, or indeed any incident. It’s completely absurd that the police have been given this tool to harass people with.
The days of the police protecting the public and catching criminals are long gone.

bellac11 · 02/10/2023 17:22

So from the article, the police seem to be suggesting she put the sticker there, because they talk about alarm and distress about the placing of the sticker?

But presumably CCTV showed she didnt put the sticker there

Have they removed the 'hate crime' from her record?

What have the protected characteristics got to do with them understanding or misunderstanding this situation? She took a photo of a sticker, under what description is that a 'hate crime incident'?

Can she sue them for distress and harrassment?

FictionalCharacter · 02/10/2023 18:38

The protected characteristics have nothing to do with this. How they can give “misunderstanding of the protected characteristics” as a reason for doing this is completely beyond me.

FroodwithaKaren · 02/10/2023 21:45

It's just mindblowing that we apparently have police nudging each other saying 'did you hear, you can't go totalitarian police state nut job on someone for disagreeing with your politics any more, cos disagreeing with you/not being in your gang turns out to be a protected characteristic'.

Next week: 'whoops, we probably shouldn't have sent out blues and twos to arrest people who said they didn't believe in fairies'.

Wtf are my taxes doing? There are real problems in this country, we're knee deep in them, and money is being spent on chocolate teapots in all directions.

Stephannee · 04/10/2023 00:56

Let me guess, she placed the sticker herself didn't she?

DiabolicalFinial · 04/10/2023 01:34

Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha…

What desperation!

NitroNine · 04/10/2023 20:17

Quite @DiabolicalFinial

Bags I not on @Stephannee‘s team for charades/Pictionary etc at the FWR Christmas Party, because apparently they could have the answer [card] in front of them & still not guess right 😂
