If the woman who put the "Celebrate Diversity Exclude Women" sticker at the top of the Pride Celebratory escalator, just know, I see you.
And if I'd had my phone out quicker, I'd have snapped a photo of your sticker 💚🤍💜

Thank you xx

The graffiti on the bridge is horrible. It's in line with that 'decapitate terfs' sign and the TRA urging a cheering crowd to 'punch her in the face'.

No matter who is doing this, it is wrong. I don't believe those people support either womens rights or gender ideology, they are just thugs.

IW cannot make that distinction. IW always justifies violence one way and condemns it the other. A quick scan on X on any random day will show you that IW thinks womens rights groups are Nazi, far right, Christian, old bags. The older IW gets, the more ageism is creeping into IWs xeets.

This is an unfortunate trait in a journalist who ought to be able to look at a situation from every angle but there you go. It's what we see time and time again with this ideology.

WarriorN · 07/09/2023 15:04

I believe there's a lot, 80-100 messages, on the bridge. Its indefensible.

This is how IW linked to this thread.

WarriorN · 07/09/2023 15:08

The local news item about the bridge, condemning the messages, that IW has filmed and put on twitter used a quoted graffiti message of "children aren't born in the wrong body."

WarriorN · 07/09/2023 15:10

So the news item comes across as agreeing that that particular message is also highly transphobic.

WallaceinAnderland · 07/09/2023 15:24

Oh 'Terrorists', I forgot that one.

WarriorN · 07/09/2023 15:26

Misogyny is gonna misogyny.

Boiledbeetle · 07/09/2023 15:30

I've just gone to check out something from up thread.

Blocked!

Aw-shucks, and I only made one little comment on Twitter about someone just posting random words and not making any sense.

meh. I'll survive!

Cymbal · 07/09/2023 15:52

India is a very unpleasant individual.

I work in the city centre and had emails today about local 'trans hate graffiti' in the area. I wonder if this was it?

Shit sorry, I read the rest of the thread then checked twitter and have read that the graffiti was telling trans people to jump. Sorry for my flippant reply.

WarriorN · 07/09/2023 17:13

Yes, vile.

As is this:

Swamphag · 07/09/2023 18:22

That tweet of IW has really upset me. I can't actually see the graffiti on the bridge in the screenshot but from what's been said up thread, it's vile. It in no way mirrors what I think and to have my light-hearted, pissed-up comments attached to it isn't fair and it isn't right. And I know IW doesn't believe that the two screenshots from here in any way are linked to the bridge graffiti.
They really are low aren't they?

Don't take it personally. India is an unhinged Twitter troll who blocks everyone.

Boiledbeetle · 07/09/2023 22:09

@Swamphag lowest of the low!

This is definitely a case of its not you with the problem it's the attention seeker tweeter.

WarriorN · 07/09/2023 22:31

Very low, don't take it personally.

IW has the neurological complexity pathways of the metro compared to the London Underground

SinnerBoy · 07/09/2023 22:58

I'm not saying it's the case, but I don't think it's beyond the realms of possibility that a trans zealot has done the graffiti. There hasn't been anything like it from women, before now.

Shit sorry, I read the rest of the thread then checked twitter and have read that the graffiti was telling trans people to jump. Sorry for my flippant reply.

Where photos actually show anything legible:

Tweet: "anti-trans and racist graffiti all along the High-Level bridge into Gateshead town centre."

Graffiti: "men in dresses following my sister into bathroom is scary"
https://twitter.com/Jamie8742669245/status/1693155836657348646
(anti-trans or anti-pervert?)

Tweet: "(CW for suicide mention) Some hateful person has covered the High Level Bridge between Newcastle and Gateshead with transphobic graffiti on every column. Plus this cute message. In case anyone feels like a spot of painting…"

Graffiti: "woke nazis jump here"
https://twitter.com/sage_brice/status/1690373022383841280
(surely only "transphobic" if trans people are, or identify as, "woke nazis"?)

Tweet: "There seems to be a transphobic hate speech graffiti campaign getting quickly out of control on the High Level Bridge in Newcastle. Given the offensive nature of most of it (I am posting the moderate ones) can it be monitored and removed?"

Graffiti: "save the kids from evil gender ideology" . . . "nobody is born in the wrong body"
https://twitter.com/AndySmNCL/status/1692823196917956737
(nothing about trans people there; Mermaids and Owen Jones, trans allies to the max, have told us very forcefully that trans people are not "born in the wrong body". Unless they are transphobic too?)

Tweet querying evidence of transphobia: "Transphobic?"

Graffiti: (In big letters) "two genders exist male female"
(Smaller lettering above that) "Make Love (to anyone) Not War with everyone"
https://twitter.com/GavEllis72/status/1699892694942978189
(Pretty conclusive that the graffiti artist is not someone who would call themselves "gender critical". Anyone GC would have written "two sexes" not "two genders"!)

Tweet (Willoughby): "Gender Critical Terrorists vandalising Newcastle and Gateshead. It’s absolutely a hate crime - they feel emboldened by the Gov."

Graffiti: "U CAN'T CHANGE SEX!" under which one of the Most Vulnerable And Marginalised, who is obviously Deeply Traumatised by the graffiti has written, "Just watch ME MATE"

Graffiti: "Woke R Fascists in Disguise"
https://twitter.com/indiawilloughby/status/1699434774035575043
(see Archive Today if you are blocked. Just the usual drivel from Willoughby)

Tweet: "please share!
Gender Criticals graffiti numerous locations in Newcastle telling Trans people to commit s**cide. It was never about protecting women's spaces or sports, it's about erasing Trans people from existence."
https://twitter.com/Dementia_Grimm/status/1699536852758171722
(Typical of many tweets making hyperbolic accusations with no proof; links to a news article that has no photos and does not state what the graffiti said)

------

So far it all looks like a bit of a self-own by a bunch of self-identified woke fascists and/or liars and/or men in dresses who have (allegedly) scared someone by following their sister into "bathrooms", pending any evidence of graffiti actually telling trans people to kill themselves.

Shouldn't Northumbria Police be at least a tad concerned that this outbreak of graffiti might have been prompted by scary men in dresses following girls into the toilets?

And even more concerned that their response to the graffiti makes it massively unlikely that anyone would now dare report any incidents of scary men in dresses following girls into toilets?

I am pleased @HarryTheOwl / @FairCop are on to this! The whole thing stinks.

Thanks Bosky, if there's been nearly 100 messages it's pertinent to understand their context.

Itv seems to think one of the worst was "no body is born in the wrong body." Then went to talk to a local charity about suicide. No one should be telling anyone to jump for any reason. There's tenuous links going on however.

And then reporting a mn thread about women's rights? Hyperbole.

Didn't IW used to work at itv?

WarriorN · 08/09/2023 07:29

Yes

FarEast · 08/09/2023 09:06

Oo I’m working there later today. Will look out for stickers

Note to self: buy some stickers.

Bosky · 08/09/2023 11:30

Forgot to mention in my post this morning 7:05 that I also checked all the news reports linked in various tweets, both local and national media, newspapers and TV. There is not a single instance of any evidence of graffiti telling trans people to kill themselves, jump off the High Level bridge, etc.

What people outside the North East should also be aware of is that, as part of the longstanding animosity between Newcastle and Sunderland, there are many jokes featuring either Geordies or Mackems jumping off either the Tyne Bridge or the Wearmouth Bridge.

There have been High Level Bridge "jumpers" too but the Tyne Bridge is the iconic bridge for "jumper jokes".

People in the North East are used to hearing about "jumpers" and, while there is obviously sympathy when the person is known to them, it is all a bit "Leaves on the line", eg.

"Late for work this morning, jumper on the Tyne Bridge".
"Oh, that's terrible!"
"Aye! Poor sod. But at least I missed that blue-haired twat wanging on about pronouns again at the Team Meeting."

busstopgraffiti · 09/09/2023 07:05

I saw some of the graffiti at a bus stop in Gateshead (it's been removed now). It must have been by the same person as a lot of the phrases were the same.

I have a picture too. Am I allowed to show it or say what the graffiti said? Some of it was transphobic but some was more thought provoking than your average graffiti. 'Nobody is born in the wrong body' was one of the phrases used.

WarriorN · 09/09/2023 07:55

I suppose it's having the ability to separate out what phrases are truly transphobic and which are actually in line with the concerns raised by professionals and are essentially becoming the basis for a more balanced, reasonable approach to the whole idea of physically and medically changing healthy bodies to appear to be the opposite sex.

Personally I don't think that's very difficult.

Because there are inherent ethical implications of turning a healthy child into a life long medical patient.

Ritchie Heron is from the area, this is his latest gut wrenching sub-stack.

India has been keen to name and shame this thread on twitter (about a completely separate women's rights concern) and to the police; perhaps readers would like to see why the phrase "born in the wrong body" is so extremely dangerous for children to get hold of.

Ritchie was an adult when he transitioned. How can we expect children to understand the daily implications of this magical sanitised idea you can change sex?
