In the DM, I thought about checking if the Guardian had covered it Grin

https://www.dailymail.co.uk/femail/article-12418103/Woman-slams-therapist-transition-surgery.html

Cassie's words at the end of the article, reminded me of the current thread on the baby who was surgically transitioned. Now adult, what they said about finding happiness.

All the best to both of them.

Woman who had a mastectomy at AGE 14 was told it was 'only solution'

Cassie, 18, from Maryland, began suffering from 'gender dysphoria' after being sexually assaulted - and she said her doctor told her that going under the knife was 'the only way to fix' her problems.

How sad that she thought she would be 'attacked' if she used the women's loos. And still thinks that. She thinks she passed as a man. As a boy, perhaps. She is clearly still in thrall to the ideology, it's not transphobic to detransition.

I hope she continues to find self-acceptance, happiness and security. And sisterhood.

Thanks for this. There are new law cases starting regularly now. There is the new law firm launched specifically for the purpose and I believe that they have a number already that may not be publicised.

I always refer to this:

In September 2020, NHS England commissioned an independent and wide-ranging review of gender identity services for children and young people. The Review, which is ongoing, is being led by Dr Hilary Cass, past president of the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health. It was established in response to a complex and diverse range of issues including:

  1. A significant and sharp rise in referrals
In 2021/22 there were over 5,000 referrals into the Gender Identity Development Service (GIDS) run by the Tavistock and Portman NHS Foundation Trust. This compares to just under 250 referrals in 2011/12.

I'm curious... What's the thread about the baby that was transitioned?
Was the baby a hermaphrodite or was it just nuts abusive parents?

Ohyoudodoyou · 14/12/2023 13:05

How many young people will be regretting medically transitioning in the next decade, particularly young women whom this seems to have the most impact upon.

@IcakethereforeIam can you link the baby thread please as I cant find it.

These stories are so so sad and really make me cross. It's not rocket science; sexually assaulted girl hates her body, ooh, that's a real head scratcher, would it be counselling and other support to help her process what happened to her and find a way to move on or just chop off the bits she now doesn't like? Honestly how has it come to this?

careful though, because if you counsel and suggest that MAYBE there are reasons why you hate your body, then you are anti-trans and you are lumped in with the anti-gay counsellors, which is illegal.

I can see why counsellors are reluctant. What I can't see if why you would go along with it as a person who has been trained to understand trauma!

IcakethereforeIam · 14/12/2023 16:09

@Psychoticbreak Iirc it was a person from Yorkshire who is genetically male but had genital abnormalities at birth (split penis amongst other stuff). The doctors decided it was easier to transition the baby and swore the parents to secrecy. Cue lifetime of medication and trauma once the secret, inevitably, came out. I'll try and find it.
