What a load of rubbish,.I regularly get trains and have recently heard "ladies and gentlemen."

Please be very specific. What part of the organisations saying their staff should not be saying it, means they are ‘allowed’ to say it still with no repercussions.

Please be very specific and detail it for all of us reading along. Either you didn’t bother reading the articles or you didn’t comprehend the ‘our staff should not be saying that’ bit. Either way, please clarify as we obviously are missing some inside or extra knowledge that you have.

Did someone say "not allowed to say it"?

I saw the post where it was said "no longer acceptable to make an announcement along the lines of..." on public transport but I've not seen anyone say that no one is allowed to say it. Could you please link the post?
