This popped up on my facebook feed. A man who runs a page on early childhood posted ' Boys will be men some day. Teach them to respect boundaries and be accountable for themselves'

Cue comment responses to which he posted
(Richard Cohen’s “Zen and the Art of Early Childhood) "Reaction to some of the discussion thread: Sigh. Of course girls should be taught to respect boundaries and to be accountable for themselves. Of course both males and females have been perpetrators of violence or manipulation against the other. But is there a statistical difference between sexes? Are there systems and structures in place that make one gender more likely than the other? (Spoiler alert: yes, big time, see: world history)
So, rather than argue against this meme, believing you’re somehow defending innocent boys against vicious girls, I invite you to wonder why a gender-specific meme like this was even created (by someone other than me). If all things are even, why bother?
Then go further educate yourself about ideas like patriarchy and misogyny. However, if all this seems like too much trouble, just forget all about it by going to see a light-hearted film like the Barbie movie. Enjoy!"

It cheers me up to read things like this!

That's a relief, OP. I read this through my fingers. I think my sarcasm filter needs cleared out.
