'In a judgment handed down today, the Court of Appeal agreed with the decision of the lower court, which found that the duty for 92% of patients referred to certain specialist healthcare services to receive first appointments within 18 weeks was only a “target duty”.'

I can't even make the "on a deeply technical level" joke anymore as it's just getting beyond parody now. 😂

Gawd, at what point do you think he and his funders are going to wake up and realise that he's doing nothing but backing the wrong horse. Sorry, horses.

Over and over.

When you're funding the wrong side of history, it's only going to gets worse.

I'm concerned about this part of the judgement;
''The Court of Appeal has today also found that the “target” duty only applies to consultant-led services and has dismissed the appeal.''

When you need healthcare you aren't always referred to a consultant. Did their loss remove targets for other kinds of healthcare waiting lists?

I remember many years ago, trying to get a medical treatment on the NHS which wasn't available in my area. No worries, I thought, the government has said that in these circumstances, anyone can apply to get their desired healthcare from another area. So I applied & was told, "We're not doing that. You won't get it."

So I was referred for a lesser treatment which WAS available in my area, & again I relied on the government's announcements, in this case that everyone would be seen within x months. That time came & went & I contacted the NHS to find out why. "It's not a guarantee, it's just a target," I was told.

Plus ca change...

@Thelnebriati
It’ll be meaning that the target doesn’t apply to Indigo & the other projects/clinics like it. The fox-bludgeoner hasn’t further broken the whole of the rest of the NHS.

The absolute gyroscopic self-absorption of demanding better access to healthcare than basically anyone else is staggering. Waiting lists in Northern Ireland are notably horrific: the latest median waiting time for an outpatient appointment (stats for Jan-Mar 2023) was 53.1 weeks; & the 95th percentile wait in that period was 244 weeks. People are being permanently damaged while they wait - often in severe pain - so one group thinking they’ve a right to demand special privileges really fecking grates.

I note how GLP tried to spin it as trying to do something about waiting times for everyone, but lo all the 'evidence' they submitted was about Trans people and gender affirming healthcare, the T first and foremost as ever.

itsmylife7 · 31/07/2023 21:23

Oh dear what a shame. 😉

FannyCann · 31/07/2023 21:35

Weren't there rumblings from the government (or Boris) about restricting access to judicial reviews on account they were abused by certain people? I do worry that misuse of the process by the likes of GoodLaw/The Fox Botherer. That would be a bad result for everyone.
