There's plenty of 'constituency activists' in every Labour-held seat, and they haven't all fallen prey to this insidious ideology as enthusiastically as Lisa Nandy has.

Indeed, Nandy's endorsement of matters TRA-esque has appeared very ideologically targeted, including her demanding recognition of 'trans' status for 13 year old children and the inclusion of males in women's sports. That's deliberately attempting to dismantle boundaries - pure queer theory.

She pushed the whole 'we need less heat and more light' and 'both sides' drivel for years. I wouldn't trust her an inch. She's an ideologue.

Why can't other political activists understand that this old political activist wants Labour to be better?

Labour = I can't believe they're not better

Tories = Like Benecol, no-one can afford it

Lib Dems = Like Flora, used to be flavour of the month, but started tasting strange

Greens = Like Stork, that thing that was trendy and then went weird and is only good for padding out a bigger mix for sticking in the wee Aga

Brilliant 😂. Reminds me of Alexei Sayle on Streeting , who is Starmer's anointed successor ' and looks like his son only made out of margarine '.

Does Nandy still want to invade Scotland 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿. I can't keep up with these bizarre authoritarian diktats.

I do wonder if there's a tiny part of Nandy's brain in which she wears a beret and a fetching red neckerchief and is fighting with the International Brigades, crying 'Heat! More heat!' into the impending void of her Gaimon-lite dreamscapes.

Lest we not forget this person was/is a 'Labour leadership hopeful'.

Labour candidate Lisa Nandy pledges not to interfere on Scottish independence policy

LABOUR leadership hopeful Lisa Nandy has pledged to "never interfere" in devolved policymaking if she becomes Labour leader - two weeks…

Nandy's constant bleating about less heat, more light was dishonest as well as stupid.

The very last thing TRAs want is more light. Look at what happens when people SEE what's going on.

Gilmorehill · 29/07/2023 13:07

Interesting how the male politician is deserving of a name but not the female.

Bosky · 29/07/2023 13:28

If "politics is personal" just imagine if this was on the Relationships Board.

"Him and his mates used to beat us all up regular if we said anything out of turn. But he said he's noticed lots of women around here flinch when anyone speaks to them and they seem afraid to say anything, they just go into corners whispering to each other. I do still love him and I think he's changed.

Most of his mates are still beating up women though. Some of the women are taking them to court to try to make them stop. I've given them all the money I can afford to help them out. Some of them won and got damages to help them move on, so that's good.

He hasn't apologised yet but I think he has noticed that women don't like it when he beats them up.

Anyway, he's asked me to let him come back. Not sure how the kids will feel about it. Some of the mates he still hangs around with are a bit creepy and keep talking about how little kids should be able to have sex with whoever they want.

I'm not sure. Should I give him another chance?"

EpicChaos · 29/07/2023 13:47

Colour me cynical but all i see here, is someone, in this case, Wes Streeting, that has half an eye on the main chance!
At some point, there will be a leadership challenge against Starmer and I can see Streeting trying to put himself forward.
In any case, what he said there, wasn't an apology to Rosie per se, for his
wrong-think and attitude, more, it was a matter of a few words saying her treatment was a bit mean. To me, that's not a full, open, honest and genuinely sincere apology to Rosie.
It's just not good enough!

EpicChaos · 29/07/2023 14:07

EwwSprouts · 28/07/2023 21:52

When Starmer says sex based rights trump gender every time then I'll believe there is a policy shift.

That's all well and good but but no doubt Starmer still believes you can change sex. So if a man can become a woman, then he would still be allowed to claim the sex based rights of women.
See how those words work?!

ArabeIIaScott · 29/07/2023 14:25

EdithStourton · 29/07/2023 09:15

I should add, Labour and the LibDems unquestioningly believing all this bollocks for years has made me realise how many politicians are either completely craven or really, really stupid.

I had limited faith in them anyway. Now, next to none.

100%

It's not JUST how badly they've treated women on this specific issue; it's that it has revealed the contempt and disdain in which they hold us. Labour has revealed itself as a party of self righteous bully boys who refuse to listen, who justify any awful behaviour because they are wholly convinced they are on the Right (Left) Side of History, who are unable to conduct a debate without resorting to lazy ad homs, who think it's perfectly acceptable to call Tories 'scum' or suggest Tories should be punched.

RebelliousCow · 29/07/2023 14:59

Tanith · 28/07/2023 20:18

Rosie Duffield appears happy with it and she's the one who matters, surely.

All you're doing is demonstrating that, in actual fact, you don't want to see an apology from Keir Starmer or anyone else in the Labour Party. They can apologise all they like; you'll refuse to see it as anything other than a cynical ploy.

Wes Streeting is one of the very few politicians so far to offer anything like an apology. I'm sure there must be others but, at the moment, I can't think of a single one of them. Good job they never wasted their breath, isn't it?

Rosie has to be cognisant of her role as an MP in the Labour Party - and of the need to develop and maintaining working relationships with her colleagues. She has gracioussly accepted what mealy apology was offered.

We're not stupid! We've been banging a drum for years and being castigated, told we're hateful, censured, closed down. One obvious poltically motivated move is not going to change any of that. We've a long way to go yet, and a lot has to be unravelled and discussed before matters can even begin to be settled.

RebelliousCow · 29/07/2023 15:03

HPFA · 28/07/2023 21:17

The goalposts seem to shift every time a Labour politician actually does the thing demanded of them.

And weirdly the party who actually presided over the Tavistock disaster and wanted to introduce self ID until the public reaction stopped them get a free pass

It's all so transparent.

You fail to understand how human behaviour works.

People who have been committed to the Labour Party for a lifetime; being members; attending conferences; trade union activists have been badly let down; let down and censured; castigated; hounded, abused - and the party that is supposed to be loyal to them has abandoned them.

My Labour mp will not meet with her constituents on this issue. she tells us " you are wasting your time". Too right we're angry - and we'll not be letting Labour off the hot seat for the forseeable future.

Lottapianos · 29/07/2023 15:12

It's just not good enough!'

Exactly right. None of it is good enough, nowhere near

ResisterRex · 29/07/2023 16:27

LOJ has seen it. He's "liked" this:

How on earth can Labour think this is anything but an extinction-level event for trust with the LGBTQ+ community?"

Extinction Level Event? You have to hand it to them they are truly the winners in the over the top, hyperbolic, nonsense statements league.

Catching up on another point. Politicians should not get golden bridges. They have one job, they failed, move on. No one would argue that Boris Johnson or Gavin Williamson to name just 2 should be given the opportunity to say sorry and everything is hunky dory, why all the handwringing about this?

I agree that politicians should not get golden bridges. There are several in Scottish politics who have been so vitriolic and so determined to silence and monster women that they simply shouldn't be forgiven, no matter if they do do a cynical volte face to save their own careers. Off the top of my head, Shona Robison, Shirley Anne Somerville, Mhairi Black, Alex Cole Hamilton, John Nicolson, Jenny Gilruth, Patrick Harvie, Lorna Slater, Kirsty Blackman, Kirsten Oswald. Fuck no do they deserve a golden bridge.

Waitwhat23 · 29/07/2023 18:20

Yes. I can never forgive Labour. I was a party member for many years. Free speech is what is finally allowing sanity to prevail. Only the Conservatives really get free speech these days. They have been abysmal in many respects and with their multiple PMs. Rishi maybe now gets it and so I think he is a better risk for women and children going forward than Starmer who was endorsing Corbyn at the last election.
