Genuinely interested in whether this individual will go into a male or female prison?

Think this is the first case I've come across of a biologically female (fairly sure pre-op but taking hormones/testosterone) transman committing a violent crime of this sort (I'm sure there will have been plenty I haven't seen!). Just curious to see if they'll be placed in a male or female prison - I'm assuming female for their own protection.

No question really, just trying to get my views on this straight in my head!

It's amazing how often women's prisons are considered a safe option

Maybe they'll get a choice?

I believe transmen are always housed in the female estate.

They are the safer option between male and female though. I have no doubt female prisons can be brutal/violent/horrible but men are physically stronger than women and have an advantage, even against a biologically born female with testosterone on board.

There was the American mass shooter earlier this year who interestingly enough was referred to as a female by both police and media...

Audrey Hale, a 28-year-old former Covenant School student who killed six people at the school Monday, carefully planned the attack, according to officials.

According to comments under the article, the victim was the perp's sister.

There was one transman in the men's estate in Scotland when it was all being discussed.

Absolutely horrible attack, must have been terrifying and traumatising.

I do note that passers by were able to intervene to stop the victim from apparently any physical injury?

I think the only question re risk would be if the prisoner were so distressed by he gender dissonance of being in a women's prison that they were dangerously violent or suicidal purely for that reason, in which case a unit within the women's prison for transmen could be considered. I can't believe they could ever be considered appropriate for a men's prison.
