Thanks for posting.

I missed the first 20mins but I thought she was really good and presented the facts well.

nauticant · 19/07/2023 20:01

She came across well but it's clear she's really pissed off with all the nonsense and on one level still can't believe that no matter how unfair things are, the inertia and misogyny in the sporting bodies and institutions means that they'll drag their feet as much as they can.

Well that was pretty much the perfect interview on the subject wasn’t it? Bravo.

nauticant · 19/07/2023 21:22

She is fluent, she's on top of her subject, and her level of reasonable but pissed off at unreasonableness worked for me.

Just finished watching it. Clear comprehensible explanations of why it shouldn't happen and why women can't win.

PurpleWhiteandGreen · 19/07/2023 23:14

Thanks for flagging this up OP, I will watch it tomorrow.

Fabulous interview and it was really interesting how shocked the two men were at some of the information they were hearing. Sharron was her usual, articulate, measured self and also looked absolutely fabulous.

Littlesprouts · 20/07/2023 07:53

Also recommend their recent interview with Richard Dawkins, there was a very good discussion about sex and gender.

ilovesushi · 20/07/2023 09:54

I remember seeing a documentary decades ago with Sharron Davies where she sought out the woman who had been awarded the gold medal that Sharron should have won at the Olympics. The injustice of it all was heart breaking and the woman who had won gold had also suffered and continued to suffer. She had been terribly exploited as a young athlete, had terrible health and very little money. In the film, Sharron was palpably angry at being robbed of her medal. I always think of that documentary when I see Sharron Davies and I wonder if in a bigger picture way, it was fortunate that it happened. Maybe it gives Sharron that fire in her belly to fight the injustices in women's sport today.

Just googled it. It was called Tainted Gold (1998) on Channel 4.

Waxdrip · 20/07/2023 10:41

Wow that was an amazing interview. I really like how Sharron Davies sticks to the facts. She is very persuasive.

It's been fascinating watching them go from 'where's the harm in it?' in their early days to being completely gobsmacked by what's happening.

MalcolmTuckersBollockingface · 20/07/2023 14:15

Phenomenal interview. Sharron Davies is a class act. She got the balance right between factual analysis and thinly veiled righteous indignation. The only interviews I've seen of her have either been talking heads or an audio version. The long form interview worked really well in conveying her earnest sincerity on this subject. I'll be buying the book that's for sure.

ThomasinaLivesHere · 20/07/2023 14:54

Thanks, never heard about this and watching just now.

ThomasinaLivesHere · 20/07/2023 15:43

Anyone read her book Unfair Play? I’m going to add it to my list.

Littlesprouts · 20/07/2023 21:55

Just listened now and the interview just flew by. She was so engaging and impressive.

334bu · 20/07/2023 22:03

Well worth a listen.

Louloulouenna · 20/07/2023 22:06

Also highly recommend listening to Sharron being interviewed by Brendan O’Neill on Spiked.

Helen Joyce also brilliant as ever with Megyn Kelly, a nice follow up to her recent session with Peter Boghossian.

AppleBlossomTimeNow · 20/07/2023 23:26

She's superb. So in command of the facts & so eloquent.

MalcolmTuckersBollockingface · 07/08/2023 18:48

I watched Joe Rogan converse with Gad Saad, last week. JR made reference to a Triggernometry interview that sounded like the Sharron Davies one but he didn't namecheck her. Wouldn't it be great if he decided to interview her.

redalex261 · 08/08/2023 00:35

I've watched this interview and bought her book. Both great. Sharron really stuck to the impact of natal males in females sport -she clearly made a decision to stick to her area of expertise and avoid getting bogged down in all the other issues affected by this insanity. This approach has allowed her to be really measured, quoting stunning statistics and science to support the facts. I had no idea about the issue with G.D.R. doping their teenage girl swimmers with testosterone for 20 years. What a bloody scandal, clearly mirrored by current events in sports, and once again ignored by the International Olympics Committee. Hopefully they will be shamed by this book and do more than pass the buck to individual sporting federations (doubt it). I can also recommend the Triggernometry podcasts - I had not a clue about gender ideology until seeing them interview Helen Joyce, they have now interviewed loads of GC people. Like every other woman on this forum I've been unable to look away since my first "revelation" and I've read, watched and listened to everything since. As a news junkie I'm ashamed and still incredulous I totally missed all of this bullsh*t until 9 months ago - had noticed bits of weirdness here and there but lack of mainstream reporting fooled me into thinking it was all fringe issues not to be worried about. Talk about wrong!
