episode 'should I stay or should I go' (in the middle of watching atm)

Not sure how I feel about this. I know Shonda Rimes is notorious for a 'be kind' stance. I suspect she was progressive 10 years ago, but now is coming across as not having done enough research on the effects of early years transition.

I actually quite like Teddy's approach 'you're not a girl, you're a boy in a costume' which seems fact based and fair, but something tells me Teddy is going to be proven 'wrong' and converted to the path of righteousness. Sigh.
Would love a discussion here as DP doesn't watch GA and also has limited tolerance for me soapboxing (I do get a bit ranty and carried away).

As far as I remember, thus far, that's about as much mention as it gets.

They seem to move on to an adult character to include gender-identity and season 19 jumps heavily into using the show as a platform for highlighting the issues caused by the reversal of Roe Vs Wade.

That, I can't fault them for. It's a bit heavy handed and preachy in places, with some of the writing a bit clunky, but some of the stories don't pull punches, and they will be reaching an audience courtesy of being the show they are, as well as being hard to shut down.

Leo is barely mentioned again if I remember correctly.

That's a relief. Maybe they realised they needed to show a bit of balance but were scared of alienating half the audience so they just left it hanging? Who knows. Looking forward to the Roe vs Wade activism though.

Yes the Roe v Wade abortion storylines are good.
I think as a whole the show picks up in season 19 as well, it's almost like a relaunch and there's a proper focus on the new interns (I feel like some previous interns I've barely learnt their names and certainly not been interested in them!).

Yes, things don't go too bad with Leo, it's Kai that is the really annoying gender pushing story

The preachiness of GA made me stop around season 17 I couldn't take it anymore.

Political correct preachiness also ruined The Good Fight which was a shame as it was otherwise excellent. And the thing about that was, I didn't care that the storylines are politically left focused. But when it's hitting me around the head obvious I switch out.

I just rolled my eyes when I learned about the forthcoming Trans GA storyline and I decided I wasn't going to tune in for an choreographed lecture on why I should be kind.

But I'm glad to hear it hasn't been quite as preachy as I imagined it would be.

This annoyed me too.

A kid of a teenage drug addict raised by another ex drug addict and her ex husband whos attitude towards women is not to be proud of, who is bounced around between all the couple re shifts and a gazillion aunts and uncles when not in 24 hour Grey sloan daycare, and hunt wants to jump to immediate affirmation..

I mean it was a reach even fir GA

The Leo thing was daft - a 4 year old likes a sparkly cape. This is not a 'problem' that needs to be 'dealt with'.

The nonsense has infected Station 19, as well. There's a scene where a pregnant woman comes into the fire station clinic, gets a scan, is told by the doc it's a boy, and then (very obviously dubbed in later when the doc has her back to camera) 'if that's how he chooses to identify'.

🙄🙄🙄

That's the sort of nonsense that would just make me turn it off.
