I don’t know if this has had a thread already as this podcast is from 2022 but if you haven’t seen it definitely worth watching.
Peter Boghossian delves in to a news article which claims that the dinosaur emoji was used by British ‘terfs’ as a way to attack the part of the Trans community who love dinosaurs- how they are fighting against this ‘appropriation’ which is compared to Nazi’s appropriation of the swastika and also that crocodile’s (descendants of dinosaurs) are part of the non-binary community.

It's probably because in America, the Christian Right is often ferociously creationist, and the whole dinosaur/ ancient earth thing upsets them. There are fundie Christians who will tell you with a perfectly straight face that dinosaur bones were either planted by Satan, or by God, to test the faith of the believers.

So, American commentators would hear "terfs and dinosaurs " and jump to exactly the wrong conclusion.

Boring fact alert…..crocodiles are not descended from dinosaurs. They share a common ancestor, but evolved separately.

It’s supposed to symbolise the “regrowth” of one’s femaleness after detransing from being an FtM. It’s based on salamanders being able to regrow their tails after they’ve been cut off.
