Is this the new thing now, Ted?!
So after June month of LGBTQ+ Pride, looks like Ireland are lumping identities with medical conditions - is this just Ireland or Global?

I despair. They don't care that people with disorders of sexual development have asked them over and over again not to include them in their stuff.

Surely if the can be a Pride for the TQI+ part of LGBTQI+, there can be an LGB one too!

PurpleGreenandWhiteAreTheNewPrimaryColours · 10/08/2023 19:35

No LGB without the T
But
TQI without the LGB

Go figure

elgreco · 10/08/2023 19:56

never ending Pride Season ....

I think they just carry on all year now.

Regardless of the gender ideology I can see how this shit just pisses most people off

Aren't biologically intersex people quite rare? And Ireland isn't a huge country. So is this just one person waving a flag on a bus?

I really, really hope no one turns up to this ridiculous event.

Is there nothing these people won't claim as their own & turn to their advantage?

ResisterRex · 11/08/2023 07:42

Some quarters are desperate to co-opt DSDs with the T. And it works as people believe it. Had to endure a very frustrating discussion about this recently with someone insisting to me that "intersex" is covered by the "+" which in fact means they're protected under gender reassignment. I'm not kidding. It was ludicrous.

imed · 11/08/2023 07:48

Confused. So are people identifying as intersex now?

imed · 11/08/2023 07:51

I thought that term was insulting to people with DSD

What Rex said.

Forced teaming of people with DSDs, and using the term “intersex”, is the TQ activists’ back up plan. It has really come to the fore of late - since the LGB Alliance has started to gain some traction.

The TQ activists have started renaming LGBT staff networks as LGBTQI networks. Also focusing on “trans and intersex” in policy discussions and awareness raising sessions as if they are the same. The Cabinet Office “trans and intersex” inclusion policy (discussed in another thread) would be one example.

However, very recently, I’ve noticed that the TQ activists seem to be successfully embedding the ditching of “LGB” in terminology. Increasingly I’m seeing reference to “the queer community” and sector-specific references to for example “the queer arts community”. I suspect that if they get to a position where “queer” is routinely the only word used by a range of organisations and in media coverage, they’ll drop their TQI back up plan, and proceed full steam ahead with the next stage in this long term strategy. I won’t say what acronym start seeing used at that point, as I suspect it would get the post reported and deleted.
