Parents kept in the dark by teachers about their 16 year old daughter’s medical transition

In this case the Head appears to have supported the parents’ wishes that their daughter’s social transition not be supported, but some teachers ignored this and even went further, keeping the daughter’s use of cross sex hormones secret:

“The couple found out how far their daughter had progressed with transitioning only after hiring lawyers to demand sight of school records. To their astonishment, the records showed some staff also knew their daughter was taking cross-sex hormones as a step towards making her body more masculine.

Subsequent disclosures showed she had also been using a chest binder to flatten her breasts, another troubling revelation the school had not shared.”

The staff at the school are responsible if they did nothing, the Teacher regulations authority are responsible if they did nothing, police and CPS if they did nothing.

Lesson learned, how to safeguard myself and the institution better and fling the vulnerable under the bus harder.

This is awful.
WTF were the teachers thinking?

I think some people (thinking of the teachers in my DC's school, and young social worker colleagues of a good friend) are so caught up in this new ideology that they can't accept even the slightest possibility that encouraging DC to transition could be anything but positive.

They so genuinely believe they're doing the right thing, and that any critics are misinformed or driven by hate, that they dismiss any criticism, not giving it enough space in their brain to consider it properly.

And the deeper they get, the more entrenched they are in the belief that they are the Good Guys, defending the underdog and doing good in the world. Because at that point, if they accept the criticisms, they have to be open to the idea that they have been involved in damaging children, deeply and irreversibly. Many would rather not face up to that possibility, especially when they are so invested in their Good Person persona.

Obviously what they need is some actual solid principles and ethics, not the performance of them, but people often seem to find it hard to understand the difference in my experience.

It is trivially easy to buy testogel, and injectables like anadrol and deca without a prescription. Anyone with access to the internet, or a gym, can do it.

Sorry, I don't understand your point? The teachers didn't "do nothing" in this case. They actively went against the directions of the parents and the head, then concealed that from them. That's not "doing nothing".

Cross sex hormones for transing people should be seen as illegal, potentially harm- causing drugs for under 18s. There must be all sorts of drugs and procedures doctors are not allowed to prescribe or carry out, and cross sex hormones and transing could join the list.

Then any doctors who persevere could be prosecuted.

No doubt this won’t happen.

I doubt very much they were prescribed by a real doctor. Possibly an online prescribing service or more likely just bought online without a prescription or from a bloke in the gym. "Cross sex hormones" used for masculinisation are nothing more than bog standard anabolic/androgenic steroids, abused by literally hundreds of thousands of people in the UK already. Even Superdrug sell them - you just have to fill in a form reviewed which is reviewed by their "doctor" and they'll happily send you testogel.

That's a wise post candalf. Teachers and social workers seem to be particularly vulnerable to this group think prioritising "be kind" while determinedly ignoring evidence / data that suggests transitioning is catastrophic for most children - psychologically and physically.

I'm always reminded of the warnings in the judgement from Mr Justice Hayden where he castigated social workers and others for ignoring serious emotional abuse by a parent because they were in thrall to trans ideology (as well as being influenced by the paedophile scandal hit Mermaids charity):

Calling anyone by their preffered name cannot be likened to coercing them to take prescription medicine - that is quite a leap.

To repeat my earlier post, there is a GP (yes, a real GP) in my local city who is happy to prescribe hormones to teenagers who want them.

I wonder if it's the same one (I'm in the South East) or if there are a few of them.

Also, Helen Webberly is allowed to practice again.

Of course those two things aren't equivalent, but social transition is not a neutral act, as per Cass. You don't just wake up one day and go straight to hormones, it's a path that starts with names, pronouns etc etc. Telling Brenda that you agree she is actually Bob reinforces to Brenda that she is Bob, that being Bob is her true self and is socially acceptable and indeed desirable. And makes going back to being Brenda (who of course she hasn't actually stopped being in reality), much more difficult. It's a step along the path.

You absolutely don’t need blockers for FTM transition. Androgenic-anabolic steroids easily ‘override’ natural oestrogen.

BCCoach We all know that. The earlier reference to needing to be on PBs before CSH was referring to NHS protocols.

along with candalf’s earlier post, I would also refer you to mine explaining how adolescents end up at unscrupulous GPS who will prescribe testosterone to gender dysphoric adolescent girls. Unfortunately this is a world too many of us here are very familar with.
