Apparently we are vulva owners

Just lost yourself a customer there Lovehoney! Plenty of folk objecting to ‘vulva owners’ which is brilliant to see.

Ffs another one bites the dust 🙄

dancinginthesky · 19/06/2023 20:33

If the aim was to be inclusive wouldn't that mean it discriminates against transwomen since they don't have them pre-op

So why fucking offend women (biological women) too?

Like a double go woke go broke

Wasn't lovehoney meant to be a Christian sex toy site or something or run by Christians?

miri1985 · 19/06/2023 20:38

Why are sex organs the only thing that companies are trying to frame it as if we bought them down the shop? I've never heard of a company that makes cold medicine market to tonsil owners

Maybe next time I get a sore throat I could identify as NOT a tonsil owner and it will magically go away.

That love honey caption is the most clumsy sentence I’ve seen in a while.

Probably super transphobic too, as I can’t see that any of those drawings look like pre-op transmen who <gasp> will have a vulva

Whatwouldscullydo · 19/06/2023 20:55

Vulva owner? Do they get their own fenced off area in parks like dog owners ?

QuickWash · 19/06/2023 21:33

How can everyone miss the homophobic nature of that statement?

Loads of praising its inclusivity but missing the fact that the term lesbian has been studiously ignored.

Circumferences · 19/06/2023 21:52

I own a Honda not a Vulva. Where's my special sex article?

GiraffeDoor · 19/06/2023 21:59

Apart from anything else, surely they really mean clitoris owners?

Clymene · 19/06/2023 22:02

Christ. Apart from the horrific vulva owners, they've hardly come up with anything interesting and unconventional have they!

GiraffeDoor · 19/06/2023 22:07

Ps somewhat related - I hate this current notion that the opposite of shame is commercialism. I don't think there's any shame in female pleasure. But I also don't think that a whole booming industry based around selling women all manner of gadgets they really don't need is particularly "empowering".

(I keep seeing really awkward adverts from various women on social media, usually accompanied by lots of "this is really uncomfortable for me to talk about, but I know it shouldnt be" type waffle. Privacy is not the same as shame. It's perfectly normal to keep some things, like masturbation, private. Lovehoney do not car about smashing the patriarchy. They care about selling over priced plastic crap to women with perfectly functioning hands/fingers of their own. End rant)

GCautist · 19/06/2023 22:09

Completely off topic but is one of the vulva owners sporting a colostomy bag?

That's all I was interested in or really noticed!
Honestly can't get worked up about this at all.

Ohhh maybe

I saw a remote for a double ended dildo but could be a colostomy bag

Yes. Women end up feeling pressurised and coerced into oversharing. Just as bad as feeling 'shamed'.

Imamumgetmeoutofhere · 19/06/2023 22:37

And just as I was about to place an order to try and spice up my sex life......thanks LoveHoney, I'll be a fucking nun forever

Brightstar29 · 19/06/2023 23:13

There was another post on here not so long ago with a similar advert from Love Honey. It wound me up so much I emailed them, this was their response. Clearly they didn’t listen then 😂

This. So well put. I agree commercialism of sex toys aimed at LGBTQ+ community does nothing for the oppressed young teenage girls/ women or victims of FGM. Lovehoney, I never used your products before but I never will now!

PatatiPatatras · 19/06/2023 23:48

😂😂😂

Omg that's hilarious.

They checked their thinking before using the word "lesbian" in pride month.

No one can be this narrow sighted. Surely this is a staged image or something?

Or maybe there's another pack for lesbians? Or did that one include real penis bearers as opposed to the shared toy penis?

Sigh.

FlirtsWithRhinos · 20/06/2023 00:52

FFS

I hope this doesn't offend...

As a straight (original M/F sex-based meaning) woman (original F sex-based meaning) I always understood that most lesbians (original F/F sex-based meaning) didn't really bother with strap-ons, dildos etc.

Obviously that doesn't mean no F/F couples do, but my understanding from friends and columnists is use of penetrative toys is mainly a straight fantasy projected on to lesbians.

If I have that wrong I'm very happy to be corrected but my first reaction to the advice for "vulva havers" is this is straight point not any representation of real life lesbians.

FlirtsWithRhinos · 20/06/2023 00:53

Grrr .... straight point was supposed to say straight porn .

Goddamn autocarrot

ArabeIIaScott · 20/06/2023 09:24

Those illustrations are about the least arousing thing I've ever seen. It's like the instructions for how to put on a life jacket, only with blobs and a tacky fuschia-pink background. Fugly.

ZeldaFighter · 20/06/2023 09:32

Did I dream the bit about feminism fighting the reduction of women to their body parts (usually tits n ass)

Did I dream about how that was considered insulting, sexist and offensive?

Did I dream the bit about women being actual, real people with their own thoughts, opinions, feelings, ambitions and goals?

BabyStopCryin · 20/06/2023 09:47

They’ve been doing this for years.
