I can't help but feel this is a bit of an own goal for whoever leaked this to PinkNews.
The Evening Standard reported it more accurately as "the prime minister mocked the other party leaders’ stance on trans issues", as opposed to framing this as him mocking trans people.
How have we got to the point whereby the Independent is reporting that PinkNews (who accuse everyone of transphobia for everything) have groundlessly accused someone of transphobia?
I get that it's a great clickbaity story, but it also feels like a way to keep everyone in line and intimidate us all into staying silent by calling out the most mundane examples of disparagement or questioning as worthy of condemnation.
Also, if the science on gender ideology is so robust, how come it's so well hidden? I have an intro to psychology book where they were obviously so scared to explain the psychology around this issue that the section on gender in the book simply has a paragraph stating that Jazz Jennings exists. That's literally all it says on the topic.
I'm pretty sure most of the trans people I know don't actually believe the narrative that if a man feels like a woman then his penis is automatically a woman's penis. When politicians say silly things like that, they should be called out on it, as it's actually those kinds of batshit statements that make a mockery of transgender people and the genuine struggles they go through with gender dysphoria.
