I was half starting a post on this earlier but I had to actually do some work. This was my favourite gem in the report I read.

Non binary is kind of a choice, in the sense that until gender neutral pronouns were invested relatively recently, people managed with the existing ones. I am not saying that feeling non binary is a choice, merely that how it is expressed is a personal choice. Perhaps her personal choice is that she'd rather put up with her previous pronouns than exhaust herself fighting the world. There are so many different mixes of genders, sexualities, etc nowadays, why can't a non binary person use female pronouns?

So “misgendering” a “non-binary” person isn’t really a big deal then is it if gender neutral pronouns have only recently been invented and it’s easier to put up with the old fashioned sex-based pronouns? Hardly the hate crime they make it out to be.

So, it doesn't really matter which toilet you use; ergo you should use the one which aligns with your biological sex. Simple, non?

What she said about it kinda reminds me of my bf, who is non-binary. Very, very sensitive, avoids absolutely anything that makes him so much as think of his gender, resentful etc. Ofc it's a crock, but it's like people vulnerable to this stuff have a mental block up keeping them from realizing they can redefine their sex instead of embracing stereotypes by treating them as so set in stone that to escape them you have to escape your entire sex all together.

Easy answer:

use sex based facilities
use sex based pronouns
find something more interesting to do

stop worrying about gender - it really doesn’t matter and nobody cares if you identify as non-binary or as an Archers fan. Because it doesn’t matter. It doesn’t change anything.
