I haven't seen this posted yet. This is the California activist who murdered a lesbian couple and their son in 2016.

News story:

Kara Dansky's twitter thread with a bit of inside the courtroom info:

It remains to be seen whether Rivers will be incarcerated in the women's estate.

Dana Rivers sentenced to life in prison without parole

The judge called the murders "the most depraved crime that I’ve handled in the criminal justice field in 33 years."

But will it be covered by the press? I think that was one of the mysteries of this case- that it hardly got any press attention.

I don't understand the 'biker gang' comments on Kara Dansky's Twitter feed - was he blaming a mythical gang of bikers for his crimes?

I hope he gets what's coming to him in prison, vile creature

Ereshkigalangcleg · 15/06/2023 17:43

I think it's inevitable that he's going to be put in the women's estate in a state like California, isn't it. Other murdering men have been.

Glad he's been sentenced appropriately though, that some sort of justice has been done. RIP Charlotte, Patricia and Benny Flowers

I find it extremely telling that this sentencing is not reported on in mainstream news sites in the US. You'd think it would headline news everywhere given the victims were a lesbian couple and their son. And with the level of violence that was involved and the "spree" nature of the killings. Yet nothing at all.

Good. Disgusting crime

No, I don't think the national press will pick this up. They haven't covered it yet, so why start now? I wouldn't call that mysterious, though. The mainstream US press are mostly in the thrall of sex denial.

re: 'biker gang,' the prosecution took what seemed to be an odd angle in their pursuit of this case.

According to Kara Dansky (herself an accomplished attorney) they didn't need to establish a motive for the crime. The physical evidence and witness testimony was overwhelming.

But for reasons of their own, the prosecutors developed a narrative of motivation for the crimes that had to do with Rivers' and Reed's involvement in the "Deviants" "all-female" biker group.

From a news story last fall:

"Still, the prosecution memo says that when police asked Rivers in the immediate aftermath of the killings if they were in any way related to the Deviants, she [sic] denied it."

"This has nothing to do with that," Rivers said, according to court records. "This was personal."

Indeed I've seen evidence that that has happened. Which is unsurprising (but nevertheless horrifying) given the current state of capture and hold this ideology has.

If Gavin Newsom runs for president, I will make it my personal mission to ensure that this case haunts his every campaign appearance, debate, and interview.

Newsom's California sponsors the cruel and unusual punishment of women inmates.
