Feminism: Sex and gender discussions

What the fuck is that article?! The headline talks about abortion-banning states but the text talks about bans on child gender treatments. The text barely even mentions abortion, and yammers on about the "LGBTQ+" - just a couple of thrown in clauses that say "also banned abortions." Could they make the forced teaming and contempt for women any more fucking obvious?

If the location discourages TW from attending and dominating the event, rendering the whole enterprise a completely pointless exercise in validating unhealthily distended male egos, then it's a good choice of location. Though I doubt that anything other than an explicit "woman-only" rule, which might be impossible to implement in current day USA, would accomplish that.

I think it's a good thing that women trapped in states where the powers that be want women to be helpless baby producers downtrodden by the patriarchy are getting these vital conferences where they can network and hopefully find a pathway out of the places that are trying to hold them down. Clearly the conference thinks the same. From the article, there's a lot of "but what about trans women" (disguised as faux concern for the whole LGBT "community") but let's be fair, TW don't face the same barriers getting jobs in tech because everyone knows they're men really.

SavvyWavvy · 15/06/2023 14:23

Probably the best place for it. It will be attended by actual women and not men pretending to be women.

Ridiculously written article.

RedToothBrush · 15/06/2023 16:30

So women are planning to have a conference just for themselves but the only way they can do it, is to have it in a state which still has single sex provisions.

What the fuck do the men throwing a tantrum expect? The women can't actually have this conference in many blue states.

zibzibara · 15/06/2023 18:28

"Choosing Tennessee for next year's conference is choosing to exclude LGBTQ+ people from attending. 'Women in Cyber Security' should mean 'All Women in Cyber Security,' not just straight cis-women," Google Project Zero security researcher Maddie Stone said at the time.

What bullshit, there's nothing stopping lesbian or bisexual women from attending this conference.

If men who call themselves women feel unwelcome, then that's great news. One does not fix a male-dominated industry by pretending that some of the males are female.

Absolutely!
