I have just stickered the Pride poster in my town - see photo! I also put a few on Oxfam's window, but didn't have a chance to take a picture.
Am on a bit of a high😆

The UK has never been more accepting of gay people and their rights
Seriously?!
Wow.

What's wow about that statement?

How have I conflated these?

I tend to think this is deliberate obtuseness. Or maybe you genuinely have forgotten everything you’ve said on this thread. Either way, you’re probably best ignored.

Ok that's fine, if you can't point it out using quotes from my posts probably best not to say it.

If this is a coded retraction of your contention that rejection of the pride flag = homophobia, it’s welcome, but you should probably be more explicit.

It certainly is experienced as homophobia by many.

When a 15 year old boy struggling with his sexuality and facing difficult circumstances at home sees the Pride flags that he experiences as community support and well-wishes for him, defaced, do you think he is going to wander up to them to read the tiny print on the stickers and then think, 'O thank goodness, it's just hostility to trans people and not to me, phew! '

Of course not. He sees the defacement from a distance and experiences it as hostility towards himself and hurries past.

But presumably, given you now say you agree that the claims of gay rights and genderism are wholly different, those who experience the OPs actions as homophobia are mistaken. Surely the better course, then, as I have suggested, is to decouple the LGB from the T, and alleviate the suffering of the gay teenagers about whom you claim to be so concerned.

I'm very happy for 15 year old boys to find out that people have a range of opinions about this thanks suggestions please.

In fact I think it's absolutely essential.

Villagetoraiseachild · 19/06/2023 22:24

I am absurdly happy that someone has stickered Eddie Izzard s crotch with a Drag is Misogyny sticker.

Or he could be experiencing the head-fuck that tells him that he isn't gay, he's actually trans. Feel free to discuss.

Of course it is. If a young person is confused enough to think that being same sex attracted is somehow the same as believing what genderists believe, it’s in his interests to get that misunderstanding cleared up as quickly as possible

You put it so much better than I did.

Absolutely.

Suggesting that 15 year old boy should consider dating females when he's gay is extremely confusing. Who does that benefit?

Not young confused girls, and not young confused boys.

It's entirely for the benefit of who exactly?

BerfyTigot · 19/06/2023 22:50

@terfsintown
Well done! I've done a little stickering myself today (forgot to take pics).

dimorphism · 19/06/2023 22:58

The LGBTQ+ (and whatever other letters and symbols get thrown in there) is so ill defined that I doubt young people feel it's inclusive and safe for them any more. For example, some people think the + includes MAP (minor attracted persons) - if someone puts a sticker up saying 'paedophiles are evil' does that make gay people feel they're being subject to homophobia or does it make them wonder exactly who is being force teamed with them through the Q+?

Equal marriage was inconceivable when I was young - if you had told me that it would be brought about in my lifetime I would have been sceptical. By a Conservative government? Then I would have known that you were having a laugh!

TheBiologyStupid · 20/06/2023 00:37

Sorry, Signalbox - quoted the wrong part of that discussion!
