The Explanatory Notes to the Victims, Witnesses, and Justice Reform (Scotland) Bill state that, if passed, the Bill would remove the Not Proven verdict, leaving only Guilty and Not Guilty. Whilst the result for the accused is the same, ie they are acquitted, it would not be accurate to describe yourself as having been found Not Guilty if the verdict was Not Proven, or vice versa and all three options are currently available in Scotland, although maybe not for much longer.
