Feminism: Sex and gender discussions

Musk tweets Suzanne Moore's comment piece: "The cult of gender ideology is finally disintegrating"

ResisterRex · 10/06/2023 07:07

He's not @'d her but he's tweeted her comment piece in the Telegraph from last week:

twitter.com/elonmusk/status/1667297563719122945?s=46&t=WHoOZ_3Kv5G6-FyQuvE0LQ

Underneath, he's added an archived link and a comment, saying: "It is worth noting that kids who are same-sex attracted and/or autistic are the most vulnerable".

As he's has a lot of followers (140M or so), this means a lot more chance of the issues reaching a lot more people.

Previously this kind of thing would have risked being taken down on Twitter, so it's maybe a sign that #nodebate is gone/going.

All because Susie Green's husband loathed his little effeminate son, so they castrated him.

This is the most vile social movement since eugenics in the early 20th century

I have no idea who these people are but what you’ve written sounds like a nightmare

GailBlancheViola · 10/06/2023 18:43

It is @QueenHippolyta I cannot conceive anyone doing that to their child and to loathe a child for not adhering to outdated sexist stereotypes is fucking awful. Any husband doing/saying that should have been ditched, the answer was not to do what they did to their child, I honestly don't know how they live with themselves.

SidewaysOtter · 10/06/2023 18:52

You want to do that to your own son? Fine.

I don’t think it’s fine to do this to your own children at all. They’re not toys to be played with, they’re human beings!

I have no idea who these people are but what you’ve written sounds like a nightmare

Susie Green had a male child whom she allowed to go on hormones to make him a girl when he was a young teenager. She took them to Thailand on their 16th birthday for “reassignment surgery” (i.e. the removal of the child’s penis, testicles, scrotum etc and, presumably, the creation of a false vagina). If I remember correctly, the Thai authorities were so horrified that they changed their laws to prevent this happening again to so young a person.

Susie Green went on to become CEO of Mermaids, the charity supporting children with gender issues and, according to recent press (given that Susie left/was sacked from Mermaids, which is now under investigation by the Charity Commission) she held undue influence over clinicians at the Tavistock Clinic, including over-riding the referral of children whose GPS had refused it, which was particularly problematic when you consider that she had no clinical experience or qualifications at all (IIRC, she’d previously worked in IT).

“Nightmare” just about scratches the surface.

Sad You’re right I need a stronger phrase, I can’t think of the words but my god

@SunnyEgg her little 4 year old boy liked to play with a dolls and liked long hair...I just want to cry for that little boy.

There are far weirder people involved in this than Musk.

In fact, Musk appears really calm and sensible in this debate.

In fact, he's been remarkably calm and sensible about many things, including the discussion about whether the BBC is an independent media source.

I find him fascinating.

Agree.

Frankly I'm a bit pissed off about quick people are to judge non NT people.

Aside from this, his access to starlink for Ukraine was/is instrumental in fighting Russian aggression.

He's not perfect - who is?

But when you look at his actions on balance he's done a lot of good.

flyingbuttress43 · 10/06/2023 19:22

But it’s the Telegraph, which is almost the The Daily Mail or Express

Actually no it isn't.

She always emphasises her husband's homophobic attitudes. I read / heard nothing from him. It's like she was just bounced into this by her child's father.

If so why was she running Mermaids for years?
Then there is the chilling video of Susie and her mum laughing about her son's penis being too small to turn into a neo - vagina. After years of puberty blockers and hormones it was a little boy's penis you see. Hilarious.

The kindest reading is that she is a sociopath.

raspberrywine · 10/06/2023 19:46

Good for Elon Musk amplifying the impact of gender ideology on children. I think he has stated that he's going to do what he can to stop medical intervention on children.

Oh, and that car in space is so cool. Another one who has bookmarked the website.

ArabeIIaScott · 10/06/2023 19:47

I think Susie Green's story must have started in very dark times. From watching footage, that family situation was horrible. Volatile, difficult.

God knows how you get to the situation where you're willing to fly your child round the world to get off label drugs and extreme surgery.

What's happened subsequently is more straightforward. Money, power, and plaudits. You've read the comms between Green and the NHS. How did an unqualified IT person get to call the shots in NHS treatment pathways?! Power is heady stuff.

ArabeIIaScott · 10/06/2023 19:48

This, too.

SunnyEgg · 10/06/2023 19:49

So upsetting that poor child

IcakethereforeIam · 10/06/2023 19:51

Mr Justice Hayden, good that the boy had a parent who was sane and a Judge with clarity. So easily could have gone the other way.

WorkinMumsince4ever · 10/06/2023 20:31

Good to know. Thank you for sharing. At least he reminds us of the many dimensions people have. You may agree on one thing but not on the other. Interesting shift.

And let’s all remember that the early 20th century eugenicists believed they were doing the right thing and working towards some positive social future.

Just because a movement is certain it represents social progress toward some better world, does not mean that it is. Even if they keep shouting about being on ‘the right side of history’.

The eugenicists felt they were most definitely on the right side of history.

Her fervour never fails to shock me.

You want to do that to your own son? Fine.

But why the 100mph to do it to as many kids as possible?
What motivates this woman??

It’s very much NOT fine to pay for your son to have his penis and testicles removed. It’s beyond belief that it would even enter any parent’s head. It is morally, medically repugnant, and should be seen as a criminal offence.

QueenHippolyta · 10/06/2023 22:52

But why is Polly Carmichael still there? I asked this on another thread. She was a huge driver of puberty blockers and cross-sex hormones at GIDS and worked with Susie Green. It really worries me...why isn't she gone?

Abhannmor · 11/06/2023 07:04

Many ' progressive ' people believed in eugenics in the early 20th C. Went out of fashion thanks to the Nazis but obviously never really went away.

Consider Marie Stopes , the pioneer of birth control. She cut off her son when he married a girl who wore glasses. I'm not sure about her other politics but lots of liberal / left people had these strange views.

I really don’t understand it. Polly Carmichael was GIDS, it was her service, what she said went. All those mentions in Hannah Barnes’ book about people being admonished for daring to question practice with “You made Polly cry”.

But she’s still there! All that was wrong with GIDS, her baby, came from her (and her pal Susie Green).

SmartHome · 11/06/2023 13:17

I'd much rather Interact with Elon Musk than Susie Green or Polly Carmichael, that's for sure. Elon is pro free speech, doesn't block everyone that disagrees with him and, crucially, doesn't think it's perfectly fine to give dangerous off licence drugs to vulnerable and unhappy kids that stunt their growth in all ways.

LonginesPrime · 11/06/2023 14:00

Summerhillsquare · 10/06/2023 09:53

He's no friend to feminists.

Why does that matter in the context of his sharing an important article to his millions of followers?

No-one outside of your own head is ever going to align exactly with every single one of your opinions across every aspect of politics, philosophy, economics, art, everyday life, etc.

If I only listened to people who already agreed with me on everything, I'd exist in a creepy echo chamber and never learn anything or grow as a person.

Lots of famous and celebrated physicists were probably misogynistic arseholes but it doesn't mean I'm going to refuse to acknowledge that they were correct about physics just because they were other things too.

Moonandstarz · 11/06/2023 18:45

This is brilliant & I believe it's true. There has been a huge pushback. The tide is turning. Pride is very muted & toned down this year also companies are seriously fearing the boycott culture so are rowing back on the wokeness😁

Re: the discussion of Jackie Green's surgery, this is where I think the antipodean fruit farms have really done quite the service. I genuinely think that a decade or so ago people were so incredibly ignorant about the realities of SRS that they thought these patients were getting something close to functional. At the time I just thought "but how could that possibly work" without looking into it, and if I had I probably would have just found youtubers bragging about how happy they were with the procedure and how it was just like the real thing and thought "okay". The farmers' archiving and compiling these horrors of medicine may have been driven by an interest in the grotesque, but it has made the lie untenable.
