So ‘I Kissed a Boy’ is the first gay dating show, where are all the lesbians?

No problem in the slightest with a gay dating show, but why is there just one for men? Where are the lesbians? Or do gay women not make good TV.

(there might be one, I’ve not looked that hard to be fair)

To be fair isn’t season 2 going to be “I kissed a girl” - they were looking for people to apply for it on BBC Radio 1 the other day.

one of the very interesting things about “I kissed a boy” was that with an all male household they showed zero domestic stuff beyond someone making a cup of tea. No cleaning, cooking, dishwasher, clothes washing etc. An entire house of strangers and not one row about who left the shower dirty or didn’t tidy the bedroom.

Ill be very very interested to see if a female version has the same vibe. Or whether it’s full of discussions about who should do x.

The equivalent show for women is in the pipeline.

Allmyfavouritepeople · 08/06/2023 22:16

There's the ultimatum queer love with lesbians on netflix. It's a shit show but it's there. And they're casting for I kissed a girl right now.

Pluvia · 08/06/2023 22:22

Men are gay, women are lesbians. Lots of people are uncomfortable using words like lesbian or dyke to describe same-sex-attracted women, so 'gay women' has become a euphemism.

Glad to hear it. I didn’t know that.

I'd watch it, I bloody love lesbians🤩

EsmaCannonball · 08/06/2023 22:42

I haven't seen the show, except for a few excerpts on Gogglebox. I take it there are only males on the show. I wonder if the lesbian version will be allowed to be all female or risk being denounced as transphobic? It's not the kind of thing I watch but that aspect is going to be interesting.

I mean that’s pretty similar to Love Island, people don’t watch it for scenes like that.

Didn’t realise the second series would be women. I tried giving this one a go but found it too cringe, I’ll give the women’s one a go though

UndercoverCop · 08/06/2023 23:32

The ultimatum queer love, on Netflix was all women, that just finished.
Haven't watched this one.

Clue in the name?

Inamuddle36 · 09/06/2023 03:21

Are there any transmen on the show?
