It’s funny isn’t it. When a woman struggles to breast feed, the only help we get is from peer supporters. There’s no medical intervention allowed, and if we take medicine for something else we have to do all sorts of complicated expressing and bottle feeding and then try to re-start breastfeeding.
My GP was incredibly dismissive when I asked for help. The attitude so often is that if you can’t breastfeed, then you can just bottle-feed instead. Despite all the pushing for women to breastfeed, when there are issues it’s not given any sense of priority.
When a man struggles to breastfeed, there’s a whole pharmaceutical industry running around providing solutions to a non-existent problem (because the reason they can’t breastfeed is that they’re a man).
