Outed myself

Quietly high 5-ing myself for commenting on some fatuous post from a D&I person I follow on LinkedIn. She had linked to a BBC article about British Cycling banning Transwomen from competing in female competition. It was all "it seems so unfair to the poor transwomen who just want to take part in sport, we need more research blah blah blah".

All the other comments were in the same vein including the bloody Michael Phelps and his arm span comment that always gets raised.

Anyway, I channeled my inner Sharon Davies and Dr Nicola and calmly explained why inclusion cannot trump fairness in women's sport and posted a link to Fair Play for Women saying "lots of research here people explaining why biological men have no place in women's sport!"

I posted under my work account so feel quite proud of myself for not putting up with this sort of nonsense from fellow professionals.......and in Pride Month 😆

I think a lot of us are getting that little bit braver. "No shits given" is a great place to be.

FigRollsAlly · 07/06/2023 22:17

Well done! Please do let us know what response you get.

Great work! I've not come out in a public forum but do speak to people at work 1 to 1.

Well done for putting your head above the parapet. I haven't gone there on LinkedIn yet. I just silently eye roll at the muppets with their pronouns next to their photo clearly showing their biological sex...

ArabeIIaScott · 07/06/2023 22:32

Thank you, and well done.
