This sounds horrendous. How can the police do this.

And yes, it was exactly as we predicted in the previous thread.

Should a certain police officer pop up in this thread, please try not to get drawn into protracted, repetitive arguments with him. Please!

'Pyjama'?!

yetanotherusernameAgain · 09/06/2023 10:59

Sorry to contribute to the derailment of this thread but how on earth could anyone confuse Sam Smith with Sam Ryder??? That's even more mindboggling than kiwi trees vs vines.

Needmoresleep · 09/06/2023 11:03

Are kiwi vines as aggressive as passion fruit vines? Our neighbour had one of these in a small London garden. It was everywhere, and then lots of fruit which seeded enthusiastically. Passion does not seem to need male and female.

I once found a kiwi fruit vine at a place I worked and it took me most of my lunch hour to trace it through various bushes and undergrowth to find its origin and original label.

They really are beasts.

'Pyjama'?!

When the girl guides new 'boys and men in with the girls but don't tell the parents' policy was leaked, one poster on here suggested that the girl guides could avoid being raped on residential by wearing 'sturdy pyjamas'.

Oddly enough I believe this was mentioned in passing at the time, by a user on the Kiwi Farms.

How's that for relevance to the thread? Neat huh?

IcakethereforeIam · 09/06/2023 11:24

Holy shit! I thought sturdy pyjama was a MN trope perhaps, like 'naice ham'. I was wondering how that related to pergolas. Was not expecting that! Eyebrows have gone again.

Needmoresleep · 09/06/2023 12:13

Worth a post on "style and Beauty". Best place to buy sturdy pyjamas?

VitoCorleoneOfMNMafia · 09/06/2023 12:22

I remember the "sturdy pajamas" poster on the Girl Guiding safeguarding thread. Another poster replied with a photo of plate armour.

FigRollsAlly · 09/06/2023 12:42

For some reason, I thought it was Stephen Whittle who suggested “sturdy pyjamas” as a safeguard.

WeAreFairCop has tweeted about the case. Their reply to someone explaining the issue with what Surrey Police are doing is interesting https://twitter.com/wearefaircop/status/1666451082745192449?s=46&t=0OzD7gaWpLvPk7TCwJLY4A

Rings a bloody loud bell that.

pickledandpuzzled · 09/06/2023 13:09

It's very weird. It's that 'like think' business again.
People can hold opinions that don't align with yours without being a bigot.

I know nice, good people who vote conservative.
I know nice, good people who don't think the church should marry same sex couples.
I know nice, good people who think abortion is only understandable in exceptional circumstances.

My own bias is showing there, of course.

Age and idiocy? Didn't know Spaceman Sam's full name, then saw the hooha about sam smith...

He and Madonna have redeemed themselves with Vulgar.

Stephen Whittle who talks about how Guide camp is a good place for sex?

Stephen Whittle who talks about how Guide camp is a good place for sex?

They seem quite proud of their sexual encounters as a young girl guide with the male scouts on camps.

They seem to be a person who generally lacks boundaries.

All the artificial T has obviously addled SW's brain.

I think Sarah Phillimore's comment is fair enough and it's a shame Fair Cop couldn't at least say that much - that they hope CF is being treated fairly and that the police can demonstrate fair treatment.

The fact is, a lot of people don't like CF, seemingly. That doesn't mean that she should be abused by the police.

When these 'orders' are used the police need to be transparent and open to third party scrutiny, otherwise they can abuse their power.

Given KJK has been hauled into the police for saying relatively mild things other people don't like, I think that it's reasonable to expect some transparency on this EVEN IF YOU DON'T LIKE CF.

The whole point of having human rights and rights under the law is that those in authority can't just pick and choose on how they treat people based on whether they like someone or not. People are treated fairly.

dimorphism · 09/06/2023 13:32

I think another factor is whether CF or any woman who might say something about biological reality has adequate legal representation.

Legal aid has been cut to the bone, many women have no hope of affording appropriate legal representation (lawyers who understand the ins and outs of this particular area of the law and the police's previous behaviour in this regard) which is why we need proper scrutiny and transparency when these things happen.

I hope Suella Braverman and Alex Chalk will be keeping an eye on whether the Police have acted appropriately in this case.

dimorphism · 09/06/2023 13:33

I'd also like them to look at the way KJK's been treated and the resources spent on it given the CPS decided not to charge her each and every time.

duc748 · 09/06/2023 14:18

It's come to something in this country when people are looking to the likes of the appalling Suella Braverman to protect their rights.

SB is literally the only person remotely interested. It is worrying that Labour do not recognise women - so how they are going to represent 51% of the population is very unclear. I believe many donors are from activists. Not unlike Biden. Very organised and well resourced.

We have a kiwi vine, affectionately known as the triffid.

We went on holiday in Croatia and saw several, on neighbouring houses. We stopped to admire one and a woman came out and told us to take as many as we wanted - please! She looked desperate!

What has she said? I may well have missed the link and though I found her on Twitter, I can't see anything about CF....

We have a kiwi vine, affectionately known as the triffid. I spend half my life trying to keep that thing under control but never had any fruit, probably because I have to cut it back so much as it grows so fast.

I've got a lovely patch of my garden earmarked for a kiwi fruit vine - are they straightforward to grow?

Incredibly easy to grow, its been moved because its initial location wasn't quite right, cut right back to the base to change fence panels etc and it still goes strong. Had it about 20 years now and all I ever need to do is cut it back and occasionally retrain it onto the trellis.
