Home secretary is enacting legislation to protect freedom of speech - just "not liking" what people are saying will no longer be an offence. (It never should have been in the first place). There wasn't even a pretence of opinions being criminal - they were "non-crime hate incidents" where effectively "offenders" were bullied and intimidated because they had an opinion on something.

Hopefully this will stop the malicious policing of people's opinions. Many people - mainly woman - have been persecuted because they spoke out in favour of biology over idiocy "feelings.

Freedom of speech protected under new law | 'Offence won't be weaponised anymore!' says Mark Lehain

'It should protect freedom of speech a lot more, and make sure people aren't weaponising their offense to try and dampen down debate, and get their own way.'...

Please could you link to the actual legislation or the proposed draft? Because other than that YouTube video above I can't find anything at all about it!

Thank you.

So it's not new legislation, it doesn't change what is and isn't an offence, it's just new guidance on best practice for how and whether "non-crime hate incidents" are recorded in police databases.

And what action police officers should take after receiving snd considering a complaint.

See in particular paragraphs 27 to 31 and 40 to 47.
