Feminism: Sex & gender discussions

Strange article
I'm not sure I fully understand either, she seems to be wanting tracksuits for middle aged women? And a rant about trans issues in the middle? Weird

Redebs · 30/05/2023 14:06

She's thrown together a few ideas. I guess it makes sense to her as she desperately tries to ride the trends in true middle-class, edgy 'journocore'.

Just as The Spice Girls were cynically touted to be about 'Girl Power', back in the day, she's pretending that the wealthy, vacuous celebrities of current times are some kind of heroes of femininity. The idea that women who refuse to accept men as women are also turning on lesbians in some kind of Capitalist - Right alliance is absurd.

Adopting exaggerated kitsch, sleb stereotypes as a way of liberating women and womenly men from the 'stereotype' of being a biological Woman is completely ridiculous.

She lets a few giveaway phrases out, though - 'paying attention' is a classic of the 'anti-woke' American Right. Attention to detail is clearly not her thing.

Absolute Word salad

The Guardian are a lost cause

Fenlandia · 30/05/2023 14:17

These AI robot journalists the Guardian must be using are getting more and more convincing!

No I can't make head nor tail of this either. How is the photo of Paris Hilton wearing a grey tracksuit bimbocore anyway?

dapsnotplimsolls · 30/05/2023 16:14

Wear tracksuits. Don't be a terf.

Random789 · 30/05/2023 16:40

It is completely gobsmackingly insane. I can't begin the years of absolutely shit-poor mock-sociological double-mock-philosophical 'thinking' that you have to go through in order to make getting dressed this complicated.

Random789 · 30/05/2023 16:42

'can't begin to imagine , i mean.

Hoardasurass · 30/05/2023 17:33

That's unreadable

Tinysoxx · 30/05/2023 18:34

I gave it a go. Confusing stream of consciousness - sounds like she was jet lagged when she wrote it. She doesn’t understand the concept that women can dress how they want and so can men but they will always be women or men based on their sex. There’s no narrowing of definitions in this country from gender critical people. She needs to read up on gender critical stuff more - she’ll find it very liberating not to be confined to stereotypes.

Imicola · 30/05/2023 19:45

"...political demands to restrict the franchise of “womanhood” to ever-narrowing groups."

What, like actual women? Very narrow indeed.

I can't make any sense of this article.

Heliotroper · 31/05/2023 11:27

"Can anybody decipher this article?"

Well you may strike lucky but I am going to stick my neck and say the answer to that question is 'no'

Ereshkigalangcleg · 31/05/2023 11:30

It is Peak Guardian.

peacelemon · 31/05/2023 11:32

I'm struggling I wish I did understand it but it's like word salad to me. I was kind of following it for the first part
