Pronouns not equalling gender?

I’ve seen people on Twitter claim pronouns do not equal gender (due to ‘he/him lesbians’ and ‘he/him girls’ apparently), yet they get annoyed when they’ve been called the wrong pronouns saying they’ve been ‘misgendered’. I am confused how they explain holding two incompatible beliefs.

They're not holding incompatible beliefs (as far as they are concerned). They are doing a Humpty Dumpty. They are saying that gender=sex when they want it to, and gender does not = sex when they don't want it to.

Perhaps the poor little precious are to squeamish to say "sex".

Fucking hell, they need to experience real hardship and give they's heads a wobble.

They need something new to be offended by. Its like the hedonic treadmill, the old things that caused offence are no longer big enough.

It's to keep you on your toes. So even when you think you know the correct answer you will still be wrong. It's the same thing abusive partners do. You are left constantly on edge second guessing yourself, forever being forced to apologise for something that is completely unimportant.
