A horrendous crime. I hope the poor girl he victimised is getting all the support she needs.

Interesting that the article is tilted’a man dressed as a woman’ rather than ‘a trans woman’ - it seems like a loophole for the trans activists to say ‘but he is not one of us’

Yes - he did refer to himself as 'motherly' and appeared in town as Amy but the article refers to him as a man:
'he stopped to "help" the child as she "looked freezing", saying it was a "motherly thing" and that he was being a Good Samaritan and had "put her in bed with me to warm up".

The confusion in the reporting is clear. I hope this is not purposeful.

aweegc · 18/05/2023 15:22

That little girl was SO CLEVER - first knocking the glass over and then turning on the light - to test how asleep he was!

I'm really glad Miller is over the age of 25 so there's none of this "It's his first offence and he's too young for prison, so a wee bit of community service will suffice".

Asurvivor · 18/05/2023 15:35

So its only because he has requested “he” pronouns be used, that we can talk about a male abductor - because the child or anyone else who has been sexually assaulted still doesn’t get to say what sex their attacker actually is.

So still the experience of the victim isn’t important and the self-appointed rights of a sexual predator take precedence. https://www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2023/may/18/man-admits-abduction-and-sexual-assault-of-schoolgirl-in-scottish-borders

Man admits abduction and sexual assault of schoolgirl in Scottish Borders

The Radio 4 reporting has changed over the day and now it's "a man dressed as a woman who claimed to be transitioning".

@Tallisker unfortunately it’s not true that the fact of his offence can never be erased - being trans is a massive loophole in past names not being searchable for privacy reasons. Lots of women have been flagging the safeguarding issues with this. A cynic might say that he doesn’t want his crime associated with his female persona so he can carry on offending when released.

This was my thought too @HermioneWeasley. Andrew Miller is a person who thinks things through.

zibzibara · 18/05/2023 18:30

The Reduxx article has some interviews with people who knew this depraved man. Unsurprisingly he has a history of behaviour which includes sexual offences against women:

^A neighbor of Miller’s told Reduxx that he had been labelled “tr▒▒▒y Miller” while in high school because of his proclivity for crossdressing, and that he had been known as a “knicker pincher” as a student for stealing women’s underwear.

After graduating from high school, Miller apparently began occasionally dressing in women’s clothes both in the community and in his butcher shop. Two sources independently claimed that Miller had past contact with police for stealing women’s undergarments from clotheslines. ^

Miller also allegedly has a wife and children, but their current whereabouts are unknown.

The article concludes with psychiatric research that mainstream news outlets would never dare to mention for fear of being harassed by angry men in dresses:

^Some research suggests that men with crossdressing fetishes, also referred to as transvestic fetishism, are more likely to be sexually violent as compared with other men.

A study published in the American Journal of Psychiatry found that “fetishism and cross-dressing” are more often associated with sexual aggression than other paraphilias.

“Not only is transvestism associated with other paraphilias, it may go hand-in-hand with dangerous sexuality,” the authors wrote, noting that a 1989 study of serial sexual murderers found that 25% had engaged in cross-dressing, and 25% had engaged in acts of indecent exposure prior to committing an act of murder.^

SCOTLAND: Transgender Butcher Pleads Guilty to Abducting and Sexually Abusing Schoolgirl - Reduxx

A Scottish butcher charged with the abduction and rape of an 11 year-old girl has pleaded guilty to the grisly crimes at the High Court in Edinburgh today. Andrew Miller, 53, who also uses the female persona Amy George, has admitted to kidnapping the c...

Sorry for the broken formatting! I was trying to highlight the Reduxx quotes in italics, not sure why it came out like that.

What’s Shona Robinson got to say now

she said that no one would ever pretend to be a woman to be a sexual attacker

but here we are. A wee girl sexually assaulted by a man pretending to be a woman

we are just horrid bigots.

Although Miller has been held in the male estate up to now, the Mail is reporting that Hamza Yousaf is still refusing to say whether he will remain there or be transferred to a women’s prison. Why wouldn’t Yousaf want to reassure women?

Because us women in Scotland have to bow down to the men and their needs and wishes

heathspeedwell · 18/05/2023 18:53

How many little girls have to be hurt before people realise that pandering to men's fetishes is anything but kind?

MandyMotherOfBrian · 18/05/2023 18:56

Just heard the reporting on this... so a bloke, yet again, may end up in a women's prison if Hamza Useless's statement is anything to go by.

Also, them thar Trans filters do a lot of heavy lifting don't they?

You're being so unfair to the Scottish Prison Service. A thorough risk assessment will be conducted and Miller will only be transferred to a women's prison if the assessment shows that he will not be at increased risk.

The end of the bbc article refers to Isla thing, in the most absurd way see pic

This man tho. Christ.

LightlySearedontheRealityGrill · 18/05/2023 19:39

So does this mean his birth same will be associated with the crime and be on the register. And once he transitions, and lives under his new name, the slate is wiped clean?

Grimbelina · 18/05/2023 19:46

The BBC were very clear (in the report I heard) that Andrew Miller wanted to be referred to as a man during the court case. Therefore, I don't think it is the leap forward we would like in terms of accurate reporting by the BBC as the tone suggested to me that if he hadn't have stated this, they would have probably referred to him as a transwoman or even woman. Why did they need to state this? It felt faintly apologetic, and wanting to make sure they weren't taken to task by TRA for reporting that it was a man dressed as a woman.

Headline should read: Transwoman abducted and sexually assaulted schoolgirl, surely?

What's the difference?

EmmaGrundyForPM · 18/05/2023 19:57

But of course, this never happens.

That poor child

Irridescantshimmmer · 18/05/2023 19:58

He's going to be turned to mince meat inside and served up in their kitchens as meatballs.

Which would be ironic given its (one of) his longstanding local nicknames (& not because if his profession)

ErrolTheDragon · 18/05/2023 19:50

What's the difference?

Calling him a “man dressed as a woman” activates the “no true Scotsman” clause and allows TRAs and so-called allies to reject him. We still don’t have to worry about transwomen, you see, because they’re poor shy nervous creatures terrified of male violence themselves. These awful predators are just men pretending.

(No, I don’t know how you tell the difference either.)

This whole incident makes me so fucking angry I can’t form coherent words to describe how I feel about it. But I am fucking sick of this charade, this expectation on women to put men’s feelings first no matter how degenerate the man might be, this ideology that gives rapists more rights than young girls, this mangling of language and exalting of a whole subset of men who don’t fucking deserve it.

EggInANest · 19/05/2023 09:06

Poor, poor child.

I agree: though he ‘identifies as transgender’ and is transitioning, and was presenting as ‘Amy’ when he committed the attack, he is only being referred to as a man by the BBC. because that is HIS choice. Had he told the police he is a woman / she the police statements to the press and therefore the reporting would reflect his choices.

And that his choice, and the reporting, creates a diversion from the truth and dilutes the statistics that show that Transwomen / trans identified males commit attacks and sexual assaults on women just as all men do.

The fact that his trans presentation was key to the abduction is the fulcrum of the case against Transwomen in women’s spaces.
