Lionsgate have hired Dylan Mulvaney to promote the Judy Blume adaptation of Are you there God, it's me Margaret.

Pretty gutted. I was looking forward to watching that.

I missed out on Judy Blume the first time around, in the 70's, and it looks like I'll be missing out again, having seen DM's connection to the film, it has spoiled what would've otherwise been a film I'd have looked forward to seeing. DM can't have the faintest idea what it's like to go through a female puberty, or anything female related for that matter. I feel insulted by JB and mocked by DM.

Offensive-ness and the female experience being side lined for TW aside, I'm honestly confused.

Surely doing any kind of promotion for a film about puberty/growing up/actual female girlhood would cause a TW to experience some seriously debilitating gender dysphoria due to... You know... Not having the ability to experience those things?

My understanding from talking to trans people is that they would be extremely uncomfortable talking about these topics and it would likely trigger their dysphoria - I just don't understand :/

It makes me wonder if Dylan genuinely is trans or not.
Even more so when you notice the Audrey Hepburn gimmick, can't believe I shrugged it off before as "Maybe they just really like Old-Hollywood & theatre!"
