Labour councillor who complained of transphobia at party conference

So the Labour Councillor who complained of transphobia at the 2021 party conference was mistakenly declared winner in the recent local elections.

It was a mistake and whilst the declaration is legally binding rather than stepping aside and acknowledging the democratic decision of voters they have taken their seat and applied to be on various committees.

Appalling sense of entitlement and lack of ethics. If the Labour Party don’t act on this they are complicit and will show they have as little regard for democracy as they do for women.

After watching Keir Starmer's speech and feeling a tiny bit of hope for the future, that maybe I could consider voting for them, maybe, depending on what else comes out, this kinds of blows it all out of the water again. It's disappointing. And makes me feel that labour just aren't to be trusted. Which is what I thought in the first place.

Can you imagine the strop this one would put on if Labour suggested that it might be wiser for the reputation of the party to do the right thing and step aside? There would be shrieks of "Transphobia!!!" and threats to jump ship for another party or sit as an Independent.

Labour doesn't "need" that seat in terms of the balance of power on the Council. However, if it is given up or taken away from Little Miss Sunshine outside of an election then I bet there will be some "compensation" on the table in the form of another role, internal to the Party or external to the Party but that it has in its gift.

Putting themselves forward for Committee positions might just be a gambit to get on other branches of the gravy train plus have those positions as extra bargaining chips should there be internal discussions about "what happens next".

Up the greasy pole one way or another. There are decent, honest people in local politics in the Labour Party but this obviously isn't one of them or they would have stepped aside by now. Some people just have no shame 🤷‍♀️

Can you imagine actually taking up a position in the situation, sitting in meetings and voting on issues when you've absolutely no right to be there? That would be totally mortifying foe most people, surely?

No, but then I can't imagine standing on a podium after I cheated my way to first place in a sports event, either.

That reminded me of this video:
