I think they have a better chance of repairing it than the architects and engineers of our downfall, don’t you? “The country’s a mess, so let’s vote for the party that made the mess, maybe THIS time they’ll get things right!?”

I wish that we had a viable party to vote for that wasn't lib/lab/con, doesn't feel like the system is working or democratic at all.

MavisMcMinty · 11/05/2023 19:46

Same here. My vote has been wasted in every general election since 1987. We need PR, and we need coalition governments.

You can apply the exact same argument to the GRA and EQA though.

And where women were raising concerns about their rights, they were told to fuck off to the Tories if they didn't like it.

The Liberals picked up a lot of protest votes from both right and left. There is a long time to go yet before the election, and many of those votes could so easily drop away. I wouldn't bank on anything.

I agree with this. The local elections did not mirror the late 90s, it's not a shoo-in for Labour.

It's also a bit daft of the LDs to say they definitely won't enter a coalition with the Conservatives because it means they've shown their hand to Labour.

MavisMcMinty · 11/05/2023 20:02

I know, and am not trying to minimise that awful, dangerous approach by that Labour arsehole. They need to sort this out, not let the Tories galvanise 51% of the population to vote Conservative JUST BECAUSE they know how to answer the “what is a woman?” question.

Knowing what a woman is doesn’t mitigate their awful policy, in my opinion.

It's possible that the correct response to this is "Right you are then".
