Edinburgh Council votes to spend £61k on Stonewall membership despite cuts and gender controversy

Councillors reportedly fast-tracked the sign-up, stressing the need to be "steadfast" on LGBT+ rights after it was highlighted that homophobic attacks were on the rise. However critics have doubts over the reputation of Stonewall.

The Diversity Champions programme was abandoned by the BBC, Police Scotland and the media regulator Ofcom as well as other government groups, over its leaning towards one side of the hotly-debated conflict between trans activists and women's rights.

Despite already paying to be a member of an external staff equality network, City of Edinburgh Council today voted to spend £61,000 on joining #Stonewall. Apparently, considering all protected groups is insufficient, some groups must be more equal than others@Edinburgh_CC

Stonewall leads homophobia. In their 'interesting' belief that homosexuality is sexual racism and a belief that homosexuals should 'learn to cope' with straight sex rather than distress someone by invalidating their chosen identity. And that this isn't conversion therapy. And that all the words that gained equality for homosexual people now mean something totally different.

That's an interesting thing to piss 61k up the wall for.
