Fred(a) W has apparently been suspended from the Ambulance service.
Couldn’t happen to a nicer TRA.
The excuses made by others on Fred’s behalf are quite something. One standout was from someone saying Henrietta is being ‘used’ and that ‘someone’ has taken over her account because, you know, a severely disabled Woman can’t possibly think or act for herself 🙄

HCPs are by definition responsible for treating vulnerable people. For that reason there are professional standards to adhere to.

I'm presuming that's the right regulator?

zibzibara · 05/05/2023 21:01

This is almost as satisfying as when Adrian Harrop was suspended by the GMC for his horrible tweets.

'Battle they can never win...'

'female people will never be permitted to choose not to have a male person intimately care for them'.

Always always all the concern for the male and the males needs and feelings and choices - and rage and hate at the female prop who dares to have a boundary.

I will have on my medical records, gladly, all female carers very welcomed, trans, NB, frost gendered, no problem. But no males, of any identity. I am honestly not at all bothered if any male is left distraught at being refused non-consenting intimate access to my body; frankly I think they'll get through it. 😡

Good. But I do I hope the suspension doesn't keep him off the TV. The sunlight when he speaks is great.

I usually am sad when someone, anyone risks losing their livelihood. But in this case all I feel is schadenfreude.

WhiteFire · 06/05/2023 18:45

Yes, it is the HCPC who is the regulatory body. Suspension could either be by the NHS trust or the HCPC. If this individual practices under the name Freda Wallace then they currently do not appear on the HCPC register (this is fully public information, as it should be) I also cannot see a recent hearing on the fitness to practice site under that name though there is a hearing from the 2nd May with details redacted. (Obviously I am not saying the two are in anyway linked) Again this is information that is fully in the public arena.

Upshot it could be either, but if I was a betting woman I would say that the decision has come from the HCPC. That is fairly serious, outcomes could include No further action, conditions for practice (supervision) up to struck off. The latter meaning not being able to work in that capacity again.

I'm pretty sure freda works for the North West ambulance service in patient transport service. I don't think they are an ambulance tech or paramedic

Ahh, that makes sense.

ArabeIIaScott · 06/05/2023 19:20

Surely anyone dealing with patients has to maintain professional standards?

TWETMIRF · 06/05/2023 19:28

Professional standards are only applicable to boring people, special trans people can do whatever they like because reasons

Yes, but only paramedics need to be registered with the HCPC.

I'd hope NWAS treat this very seriously, they do tend to be pretty robust with employees behaving appallingly, on and off duty.

When I thought Freda was a paramedic that was bad enough, but at least they are never completely alone with patients as there's always two people on an ambulance.

However, patient transport is different. They are mostly one person crews. I use the patient transport for my hospital appointments. (As an aside i have had to complain about the staff members on more than one occasion).

Sometimes there will be quite a few patients on the transport. Most of the time I'm the only person on the ambulance/ in the car.

Honestly if FW was the person transporting me I wouldn't get on the ambulance/ in the car. I wouldn't feel safe knowing how he had treated Henrietta.

I can only imagine the shit he talks on the journey.

WomanIsEnough · 06/05/2023 23:02

I think patient transport is outsourced ie they are usually employed by another company

Boiledbeetle · 06/05/2023 23:06

Patient transport use taxis when they are busy, but the actual patient transport staff fall into two groups. Those that are employed and drive the ambulance transport, and those that are volenteers for the patient transport service and drive their own cars

SinnerBoy · 06/05/2023 23:14

Fred seems to be utterly unhinged. I wonder how the Guardian will report this story?

PronounssheRa · 07/05/2023 07:51

Freda has been tweeting overnight.

NSFW stuff that would get anyone else sacked from the ambulance service.

Yeah that's why I didn't include a link. I didn't want to put people off their Sunday lunch and cause a run on mind bleach 🤮
