Belly overhang is adequate coverage

Apparently a naked male exposing himself to women in a private space, is in fact not a naked male exposing himself to women, if indeed his belly descends far enough over his genitalia...

"Glines was charged with three counts of indecent exposure in January of this year. But, on April 28, Glines was cleared by the Xenia Municipal Court despite three women having testified to seeing “a naked man” in the common area of the women’s locker room.

In his ruling, Judge David McNamee determined that “the facts do not exist to support a finding of guilt,” on the basis that Glines’ “genitalia was not visible as a result of other portions of [his] body covering same.”

According to a trial witness, Glines, who weighs over 350lbs, was found not guilty because “his gut ‘covered’” his genital area."

So by that logic if a man just keeps his hands in front of his tackle when in the female changing room then he won't be arrested for indecent exposure? Fucking idiots.

NutellaEllaElla · 05/05/2023 04:53

How bizarre? He wasn't dressed therefore he was naked. I don't really have the words for that ruling.

WomanXXWorldsOriginsofMothersofAllNations · 05/05/2023 04:56

Unless his gut is also covering his eyes then this ruling doesn’t really help women - or is voyeurism no longer a crime?

NutellaEllaElla · 05/05/2023 05:02

Having read more of the article, it is clear that this man is a fearless predator and has now been given license to escalate his perverse desires to prey on women, to sexually assault them and to voyeur. Well done judge, you've pardoned a criminal. We'll be seeing this one back in court soon, I hope his next victim can recover from his violations because she/we are certainly not protected from his next actions.

Whaeanui · 05/05/2023 06:23

Honestly just when you think you’ve heard it all. How revolting. No thought for the women exposed to his perverse eyes then?

Lovelent23 · 05/05/2023 06:27

I'm sure I Heard on the radio (Today program) this week that there was a campaign the police (in UK)were involved with to take indecent exposure more seriously, and as a "gateway" crime: it's like there's two worlds living over each other sometimes 🙃

GrabbyGabby · 05/05/2023 06:44

Jesus fucking christ. And the woman he assaulted. The effect of the societal grooming writ large. She is a survivor of child sex abuse and she still ignored all the giant red flags this fucker was festooned with due to her 'be kind' 'most marginalised' programming.

Florissante · 05/05/2023 07:11

It's disappointing to read that California does not allow women single-sex spaces.

zen1 · 05/05/2023 08:07

Fucking hell. Appalling.

WickedSerious · 05/05/2023 08:21

Say what?

This is fucking insane.

zibzibara · 05/05/2023 08:30

What in the hell, this is insane. A fat gut isn't clothing!

Lockheart · 05/05/2023 09:06

I don't know what the definition of indecent exposure is in Californian / US law, but if it requires genitalia to be visible then they are technically correct, if not morally. Whether this case prompts any examination of the law is another matter.

Boiledbeetle · 05/05/2023 11:24

Great so if you are a predator and want to intimidate women just eat yourself to the stage where plausible deniability as to whether or not the women could see your todger kicks in.

Yup! Pretty much. Fucking great isn’t it?

Boiledbeetle · 05/05/2023 12:34

The next step...it couldn't have been rape as he only had a very small penis so she won't even have felt it inside her.

Beowulfa · 05/05/2023 12:37

Wouldn't it just be awful if this individual's weight meant he developed loads of unpleasant conditions and could no longer leave his house?

I don't think any of us would be too shocked if this happened.

EveryWitchWaybutLoose · 05/05/2023 14:07

Ewwwwwwwwww.

Beowulfa · 05/05/2023 14:25

Presumably my message was deleted because referring to this individual's weight is "not in the spirit". Well, if a smirking shameless sex pest uses their obesity to escape sentencing, I'm happy to state that I don't care if they develop obesity-related health issues.

IsaacNewtonPoppleford · 05/05/2023 15:41

Dear Mumsnet, if this is indeed the case:

Presumably my message was deleted because referring to this individual's weight is "not in the spirit".

where the effect of the individual's weight is a key component of the legal case, you need to have a rethink and potentially reinstate the message; or have the courtesy to tell the poster what part of the post was a problem if not that, so they don't make the same mistake again.

WTAF?

We're living in an episode of South Park.

Gives a whole new meaning to "just the tip" really... x-x
