Article in the Telegraph about how, by 'confiscating' the findings of Laura Favaro's research into the silencing of female academics, City University has put the EHRC into a difficult situation.

University silences female academic studying whether or not female academics are being silenced, probably because her findings were that female academics were indeed being silenced.

Seems like an open and shut case to me. It would be funny if it wasn't so completely outrageous.

Outrageous. I hope she did not obey the instruction to destroy copies of her interviews. To tell her to do so is completely against the spirit of research.

Precisely.

I don't know what they think the employment tribunal will take years. Is it because they think she won't raise the money? She's got a crowd funder going.

So I beg to differ.

They're so self-destructive, we can offer them free advice safe in the knowledge they won't take it.

"Er... we've done the research. We've done it right. Some of our own people from a political position however find its results 'dangerous' and are scaring and intimidating us into suppressing it. So we have the truth but they don't like us and will hurt us if we release it."

I hear MPs are on the case: I look forward to how the government respond.

But highly useful evidence to add to the mountain range of evidence that this political movement is dependent on truth being suppressed in case people start to think or know things that would inconvenience it.

Thank you for sharing the critical article Arabella - so interesting to see that the unacceptable behaviour pointed out is always viewed as perfectly ethical and acceptable if it is targeted at women this article calls 'GCs'.
