Channel 4 has unveiled plans for a new documentary called Gender Wars, which is already raising concern.

The show will ask ‘what is a woman?’ and include Professor Kathleen Stock, who quit her role at the University of Sussex in 2021 following protests from students and accusations of transphobia.

Kathleen, 51, said in 2018: ‘Many trans women are still males with male genitalia, many are sexually attracted to females, and they should not be in places where females undress or sleep in a completely unrestricted way.’

She also told The Argus: ‘This has nothing to do with any particular trans people – it is about a general structural issue in our society and how to deal with it.’

And yes I know its the metro again, shit stirring, and also apologies to our benefactress but couldn't resist using this quote from India Willoughby as the title to this thread!

Channel 4 Gender Wars documentary featuring 'anti-trans' professor blasted

'There is no way that this can be good for trans people.'

What's the opposite of a 'backlash', maybe women should do one? Though whether the metro would notice or care....

It will be lovely for trans people. She's making the case for third spaces and that's what trans people need. All this fighting over access to women's spaces needs to stop, for everyone's sake.

Jesus, could you imagine if it was this easy?

That's great news. Sounds like it'll be an interesting documentary. Glad to see more mainstream media looking at this issue.

Justine and her husband have been separated since 2019

"Sorry, we were so busy yelling hateful bigot through the loud haler that we didn't hear your perfectly reasonable solution, yes, good idea, let's do that".

EmotionalSupportHyena · 21/04/2023 17:23

51!

FIFTY ONE?

!!!

Rampant tervery is good for maintaining a youthful appearance because Doc Stock looks about half the age of India Willoughby (57, says Google).

It’s going to be WELL FUNNY when Doc Stock’s former students realise that terfing her out of the university (sic) gave her a much bigger, more mainstream platform.

WilkinsonM · 21/04/2023 17:25

Awesome! This looks great.
i absolutely love doc Stock. She's so clever and calm and brilliant.

Dont be such a spoil sport.

So unkind to expose that India Willoughby prioritised a catchy headline for facts.

What sort of concerns? That the trans side will be given a thoroughgoing pasting and have their "arguments" exposed as completely unsupportable rubbish?

Jesus, could you imagine if it was this easy?

😂

Wouldn't it?

It will though eventually have to be this easy.

No one changes sex.

Sorry about that. No one is going to be telling kind lies about it, because it's not kind and other people have needs too.

(We won't mention that we tried it, and it failed, because the kindness and generosity was in one direction only and the T lobby would not permit it to work for women too. Because that much kind at this point is still left: clock on this is ticking unless a bit more reciprocity and less insane screaming and violent threats start coming towards women.)

There are mixed sex spaces for those who feel they do not want to use sex based spaces, because respect for inclusion, identity and needs, feelings, privacy, dignity.

There are single sex spaces for those who can only access single sex spaces, because respect for inclusion, equality of access, need, feelings, privacy, dignity.

Those spaces will be gatekept from those of the opposite sex unable to accept and respect the inclusion of others as well as themselves, in the same way gatekeeping deals with those unable to accept and respect other people's property/ right not to be sexually assaulted etc. Because the limits of your freedom is other people's rights.

Anyone claiming that they MUST access the space of the sex they wish to because highly distressing gender dysphoria that will not tolerate anything but being validated by that space will need to seek psychological support to overcome this distressing issue.

Jesus, could you imagine if it was this easy?

If only! Grin But in the end that's what Kathleen Stock's arguments come down to and that's what we all need. So it is lovely that she's going to present these arguments on telly. Whether India understands that or not.

I like how all the statements and quotes in the article are meant to sound bad but actually just sound completely reasonable
